Review: Optimum Gloss Coat

I think its great that you used an expensive product on a Corolla, no offense albeit a nice color though;)

Thanks for the review!

I purchased gloss coat and will be putting it on next Spring. Definitely in for the durability test

ehhh, the product itself isn't crazy expensive, not like a boutique wax or something so its not that bad.

And, we have nice economy cars in this house, lol, nothing fancy! funny thing is we're huge cars fans the wifey and I, we just don't own nice cars, we just want to go from a to b :)

Nothing wrong with protecting your investment...Corolla or S-Class. They are all purchased with the same hard-earned currency.

Thanks for sharing there, for that color I must too say, great job.

Thanks Mike, coming from you thats pretty awesome, as I admire your work! As for transferring to a sprayer, it performed flawlessly Mike. It wasn't to thick to come through the straw to the sprayer. Plus I find this way, I can control the product better. I am "heavy" handed and I've pushed too much out of the syringe before. Once transferred to the spray bottle, it felt and applied no different then a crystal seal, black label, sealants and coatings like that! I applied OC in the past this way too, Chris@OPT and Troy Scherer both discussed at length using a sprayer, I stole it from them, lol....

Thanks for the in depth feedback Chris! :props:

Thought I'd bump this thread...

Coated a car in Gloss Coat last week and as a beading wh0re (Sonax PNS, CarPro Reload, Gtechniq EXOv2 etc...) I can say it beads and sheets just as well if not better than these products. First wash I was very pleased with the results. Better water reaction than CQUK by itself for sure.

Prep was the usual... (car is a 2014 BMW M5)

- CarPro Reset wash
- Optimum Ferrex
- Optimum Clay Towel w/ ONR lube
- HD Adapt w/ Megs MF cutting pad (only select areas)
- Optimum Hyper Polish w/ Orange Lake Country everywhere
- CarPro Eraser
- Gloss Coat

I know I should have pics and a video but you'll just have to trust me ;) -- will work on getting some.

Nice job, nice ride. Bet you don't leave OGC alone. By that, I mean top it with something down the line like Reload or Sonax BSD.:props:

I just applied Gloss Coat to my 16 Audi TT. After all the work of polishing w Cleansing Polish & IPA wipe, I wonder if there is any benefit to applying a second coat to the hood, roof & trunk. It's been 24 hrs. How long is too long after first coat?

When using the spray method with gloss coat, how many sprays per panel (I am using a squede car pro and car pro block for apllication.)

Do you mean transferring it from the syringe to a finger pump sprayer?

Hey all, just wanted to chime in. Still holding strong to this day with just simple maintenance washed with Ultima Watelress/Rinseless. I've never been so in awe, I thought I'd get a year but not this long. Cars' a DD too.
