I will start off by stating this is my first official review.

My wife went out of town for a few days so i thought it was time to give her vehicle some much needed attention. This vehicle is her daily driver and I wanted to give it the best possible protection while making it easy to maintain. The obvious choice was to apply a coating to the vehicle and I chose Pinnacle Black Label Surface Coating.

Process
Exterior:
Wash: Optimum No Rinse Wash and Shine
Decontamination 1: Auto Finesse Iron Out
Decontamination 2: Riccardo Yellow Detailing Clay
Dry: Waffle Weave Towels
Tape: Meguiar’s Automotive Tape
Paint Thickness: Taken using Digital Coating Thickness Gauge
Polish: Spot Polished Defects with Blackfire Finishing Polish w/ White Buff n Shine Pads via Rupes LHR15ES (5.5” pads)
Surface Prep: Detailers Pro Coating Prep Polish
Paint Protection: PBL Diamond Surface Coating applied to the paint and all windows.
Trim Dressing: Wolfgang Exterior Trim Sealant
Glass: Sonax Clear Glass via Glass Towel

Before:

During:

After:

Observations:
-Pinnacle Black Label Surface coating is much easier to apply than DP paint coating. This is likely due to the fact that Black Label does not flash as quickly.
-The coating is very easy to apply and level the high spots. I did a panel at a time as suggested and this process worked perfectly.
-The amount of gloss is insane! Look at the difference between the before and after photos.

I am hoping to periodically update this thread to show the beading, sheeting and overall durability to see if it lives up to the claims. I live in Canada and we have a pretty harsh winter climate. If the coating lives through 2 years I will be more than satisfied.

That is by far the nicest van I ever seen lol
Just needs hubcaps or rims. Great job BTW.

Thanks for the compliments.
I have the factory wheels sitting on my tire rack. Just waiting for grit to be cleared off the road and they will go back on. The wheels will also be fully coated with PBL Surface Coating.

Looks amazing!

I'm a PBL coating believer, since it was the product that made me able to start my detailing business in Brazil. Having a product with such quality as back up, makes it easy to get a smile from customers.

I can also trust it's durability, until now, my first coating (~NOV/13) still holding strong, I just needed to re-do the cleansing polish (via finishing pad) to remove some stubborn dirty over the coating.

It cleaned everything well and after was just like the day I applied the coating.

Now I have my new favorite (sorry if making you spend more money!), it's the Coating Booster. It's one more home run hit on PBL line, if you found the coating easy to apply, you can't imagine how even easier the booster really is.

Since you have a thickness gauge, I really would like to see measurements before / after coating with PBL, to have a better idea of what thickness it can (if noticeable) add. If you have some info on this, please, share.

Also, after applying many coatings on customers cars, I never had bad surprises on maintenance washes like I had earlier when protecting with waxes... It's always a pleasure to wash coated cars, you'll see for yourself soon.

Glad you enjoyed coating your wife's car, hope you/she enjoy it as much as I do.

*added: Definitively coat your wheels. Then, when you spray a mist of a waterless like UWW+, brake dust just turn into beads and wash / wipe off very easy. Looking forward to see this car with the rims installed!

Kind Regards.

I have not ordered the coating booster but I plan to in the near future. I have a number of details lined up where I plan to use this coating so it only makes sense to get the coating booster.

I found it hard to accurately determine how much thickness the coating actually adds. Based on my readings it was between 1-2 um. These values could well be within the margin of error of the coating thickness gauge so it is hard to determine an accurate number. I am sure if I put on 2 coats of coating it would be easier to determine that number.

Thank you very much for answering my friend,

I'll try to put together a review on the booster today,

Kind Regards.

Yep, good old Alberta where we keep the winter skins on late! I just took my winter tires and rims off this weekend. Will start my spring cleaning and detaining soon. :)

Did you apply the product in a heated garage, with constant temps and humidity? I can see snow on the ground and can tell you (considering I've done plenty PBL coatings), that it is temp sensitive when looking at flashing time etc...

I remember reading an article by Mike stating that we should wait to have 50 and above temps.... I personally would say 60 and above is my minimum.

Great job on the van. +1 on needed some hubcaps LOL!

The paint looks much more reflective in the after shots - nice!

Thanks for the kind words. Definitely a night and day difference.

The temps aren't consistently above 7 degrees so I tend to keep the winter rubber on until May.

The product was applied in a heated garage set at room temperature. I would apply hubcaps but these are my winter steelies and they just get destroyed anyways from our winters. It is quite common to see winter tires mounted on black steel wheels in our climate.

Allow me to say something, the ride already looked good even as in the "before" state. Needless to say for the "after".
