Review: Solution Finish “Brings Black Back” (Trim Restoration Product)

Corey,
I have enjoyed, and learned a lot from, all of your reviews. Thank you for the time and effort of both doing the reviews, and creating the informative, photo-intensive posts.

I have a couple of questions about Solution Finish and trim care in general.

I'm concerned about creating a slippery surface when I clean or treat the step pads on truck/van nerf bars. These particular step pads have a relatively smooth finish, vs the ribbed surface of the running board you treated in your video. Have you used Solution Finish on these? If so, were they slick, either dry or after a rain?

Based on your comparisons, my plan is to use Solution Finish followed, after cure time, by UTTG or C4. Have you developed any further comparisons or durability information between these two? Or does any particular second-step product stand out from the crowd?

Thank you!

Thank you very much for your kind words!

I have conflicting reports on the slipperiness. I did not find it to be slippery myself but have others who told me it does feel slippery when wet on that type of application. Using UTTG over Solution Finish will prolong it for a good price if you have the UTTG in hand. However I have had feedback about the UTTG being slippery when wet on these smooth steps also.

Both CarPro Dlux and C4 are not slippery in my experience but if using them I would use them by themselves without Solution Finish applied first.

I did some Solution Finish testing today and here are the results. I am going to be doing the whole bumper and trim on this truck so stay tuned...

The lower end is now sanded down in this picture.

very good review! I saw the prices you listed and was a sad panda, but I still looked it up in the store any ways. Dunno what has changed, but you have the 12oz listed @ $125 and it's coming up $39 on the store. I think I need to order this asap.

I hope its OK that I post about this...The first review was 2012 by Corey.
Autogeek.net has the best prices for Solution Finish Trim Restorer.
