Review: Wolfgang Exterior Trim Sealant

Looks good Corey:xyxthumbs:

Thanks for the update and IMO they both look like they are going strong. I hope WETS (clever abbreviation PBMG) can hold up for 6months.

Yes, at this point they look equal on most surfaces only differing from the location of lighting I believe. When applied over C4 the UTTG is noticeably darker. Gotta get back outside and finish something before my meeting. bbl

It looks like WETS is just a relabeled version of WTTG. I just bought WTTG with the VIP20 discount last week. I should have probably bought WETS on BOGO and saved myself some money.

Thank you for all your reviews Corey! I always check your reviews before I order a new product.

Corey,

I hadn't been on the forum for months until yesterday. You are still the master of reviews.

Take care,

Kurt

Great to see you Kurt! Thanks a lot!

Thanks for the update. Your tires do not seem to be degrading as much as Bill's in his review.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing. All I can think is maybe I cleaned them more thoroughly or he has had more rain.

You did do a really good job cleaning them. I found that even with 2 full scrub downs with APC+ 4:1 and one scrub down with OPC 3:1 it seemed like the DPGTG was still permeating in the rubber. I should have a chance to get some photos from the abused car this weekend.

We have also had a lot of rain, but on the test pannel I have been spraying with water every day, the coating seems to be fine.

:iagree::iagree:

Thanks buddy! Thats high praise from a man with your talents. I appreciate it and I'm certainly in good company! You've challenged a lot of my efforts with the quality and talent you bring and I'm going to have to improve further to keep up. :props:

Heres a quick video. A few of my friends mentioned to me they had seen dirt sticking to the product so I made this video since I have never seen any dirt collecting on either of these products. I haven't washed this tire in 5 weeks. When I washed the car and other wheels a week ago I left this one alone.
Basically I just wet my finger and rubbed it on the tire to see if any dirt was on there. http://youtu.be/HcG9N4R9HBs

6 WEEK UPDATE:

This week this vehicle saw about 600 more miles and a lot more rain. The tires really took a hit this week and now the undressed tape line looks better than the dressed side. I have an idea for next weeks update on the tires but after that the tires will probably be dropped from the review updates.

The longer these products are in use, the less difference I see, I put ETS on the Fords wheel wells last week. I put a trigger sprayer on the bottle, sprayed and wiped. I suspect it may be more durable than my standard, Megs ASD. It sure isnt as nasty as ASD!

hmm TBH with you its really hard to tell the difference still. Looks the same, the only thing is the durability that will tell them apart.

Update (2 Months)

At this point its clear the plastics would like another layer and for those who don't know it applying additional layers every so often does seem to have a regererative affect but I will post these just because its cool that something is still there after all the rain, and sun.

The tire I wasn't going to post another picture of but after scrubbing it with ARO, a nylin brush, and an mf towel to prepare it for new dressing today I found a very clear tapeline over 2 months later so I had to post this. :D

Conclusions:

The 2 Month update you can find above.

It should be noted that I have seen UTTG last much longer on different types of trim or times of the year or based on environment and I feel safe assuming WG ETS would be just as durable and provide the same results I have seen UTTG provide in varied environments.

In my opinion I can draw a conclusion at this point.

With a variety of tests I can say I'm 99% positive that these products are not EXACTLY the same. The accidiental drip test really shocked me how differently they reacted for instance and I thought that it meant durability would be different. However that was not the case.

Conclusion is that as far as any properties that matter these products are almost identical.
On some trim, Ultima is ever so slightly darker and on others Wolfgang is ever so slightly darker.
To 99% of people there will be no difference.
Buy which ever one is the cheapest per ounce on a given sale...
Unless you have loyalty to one brand or the other....
Or you prefer the colors of one brands bottle over the other.

One place I haven't fully tested the ETS is on chrome. I use UTTG on my Sky's chrome and know how it looks but haven't really used ETS that way so I should say my conclusions are geared towards plastics and rubbers. On chrome and rims, etc. I do not have enough experience to voice a conclusion that they are equal.

Thanks for the awesome write up and the update buddy :props:. So you believe WETS is good for rubbers?
