I simply am for a loss of words for once in my life! I have never been greeted with such a welcome anywhere in my life. I just want to put into words and in my style of what an amazing time I had. This review is going down Justin-Style!
Here's the weekend.....
The Trip Down.....
(Sorta like the washing stage of detailing!)
I went to bed at about 9:30pm Thursday night. I simply could not sleep. The alarm was set for 2:30am but I was already up! My brother met up with me at my home and we headed out. My Ranger only had 28,000 miles on the odometer (2003 model) so this was going to be the highest amount of miles it's ever seen at one time. The ride was long but seemed short. I was talking with fellow detailers on the phone all the way down. My brother helped out al ot. Driving on 4 hours sleep is not recommended unless you are going to Detail Fest! 10 hours later, she didn't let me down! I rolled into the PGA Hilton in Port St. Lucie at 3:30pm and checked in.
Friday Night.....
(Clay barring and interior work. Not entirely enjoyable but fun!)
After checking in to one of the best hotels I've seen, I gave Meghan a call. I was now located on her way home. She met me and she gave me the information I needed for Saturday. She also gave me more important info..........where to eat and where to fish!!! My brother and I got ready and headed out. We at at one of the best restaurants there, Mangrove Matties. Simply amazing food. We ate then head to fish in the local jetty. I caught two 5+ pound pompanos and my brother landed several 6+ pound bonnet head sharks. They look a lot like hammer heads. Got back to the room at 12:30am. Fell into a 6 hour coma!
Saturday aka Detail Fest 2007.....
(This was the Souveran Paste step of the trip!)
I got up and drove another 20 miles to AutoGeek's headquarters. I pulled in and was simply shaking! I was excited as well as nervous. What was I going to do? What did others expect? I shook that off and told myself I was now with family! I was quickly introduced to Max. Just an amazing man. He was just one of us. You could tell where his heart was and what type of man he is just by how his employees acted. They were excited to be there just as much as us. Meghan told me that I was going to be detailing Lexxus' Camry and that the warehouse was open for what ever I needed. I then got myself off of the ground from where I passed out at (LOL!......that was funny!) and went shopping. I went straight to the DP line. I quickly found myself now doing a demo with the PC on a gentleman's black C6 Corvette. As I started out, there was 3-4 watching. I looked up and then there was 20+! So I just pictured them naked like they tell you too when speaking to large crowds, threw up, and proceeded to lay the smack down with some great AutoGeek products. The Camry showed up and I left the C6 to clean this ride up. I proceeded to detail it while answering questions. There were a lot of them but I loved it! I loved answering everyone's and hope I was able too. Then, Meghan put me under the spot light. There was a series of scratches around the gas filler lid area on the rear quarter. Meghan told Lexxus......."Oh, Just can get those out!" Seemed that 45 more people heard it as well! No pressure now! Once again, I was surrounded by people. I changed my shorts, broke out the PC with a yellow EDGE2K pad, applied some Pinnacle Advanced Swirl Remover, and took the scratches out!!!! After I was done, I think Lexxus was pleased......I was! Then there was the black F-150. Bradley (shadybreal) had his work cut out here. Tons of swirls and scratches. I was finally able to make it back there and help out. I really put PwS to the test here! He had already looking like a rolling mirror. Bradley will be a great edition to this forum since his business and skills are taking off so fast. One thing though, I just would like to know who I signed tubs of Max Wax for. I'm serious........I signed 2 tubs of Max Wax! Crazy!
Winding down.....
(This is the hose rolling up stage!)
I was beat, burnt, and blasted! Redbulls and other beverages (hehe) were now wearing off. Members were now coming by to tell me bye and thanks. I deserved no thanks. I am the one that is grateful. You all have no idea what it's like to work day after day making others money with no thanks at all. All of you made me feel like a king for a day. I mean that. All the vendors I met, Aaron from EDGE, Troy from Detail City, Dennis a fellow detailer, made me feel so important and that my job actually helped others. There is way to many to thank and just a "thank you" is not enough.
Ladies and gentleman, AutoGeek and it's fellow vendors are what this is all about. They have made this gathering simply one of the best experiences of my life! To you forum members, you are my extended family. I can talk to you with my problems and share my ideas. I thank you for that. I would love to thank all of you individually but there are simply to many! You all make my job worthwhile!
Max, thank you for caring about your customers and seeing detailing for all angles. You have the ability to influence and motivate others with your energy. Thanks for giving us a time to gather as well as this forum to share ideas and time. Thank you sir.
Meghan, I don't know where to start. You are the greatest! So many others already know this. Your ambition and dedication are unrivaled. For someone to want to sincerely help every person that calls, pm's or emails is unseen. I simply am at a loss of words my friend. You are a true detailing "GODDESS".
And to the rest of the AG staff. Scott (killrwheels), Jason, Dewayne, Shannon......wow I know there is so many more. You all are great. Do not stop what you are doing.......things are just right!
I made it home and I'm very tired this morning. I have 5 details to do though. My job never ends! I love you all and simply thank you for everything!!!!
