So for most of the day yesterday, I baked in the sun as I worked. My last job was a Toyota Tundra I was going to wash yesterday then clay and polish today. No sooner had I finished drying it and an afternoon thunderstorm rolled in and poured rain. I just went inside. Any opinions on if I need to rewash it today or if I can just proceed to the clay bar step?

I would definitely wash it. Who knows what abrasive crud the water couldve carried with it.

I agree with James. Also possible stuff just "settled" on the car so at least a timeless with ONR maybe. It can't hurt since it's washed already it will be quick...

My problem with a downpour like that is it usually splashes up dirt off the ground onto the sides of the car, not to mention tree/roof debris on the top...of course this all depends on the surroundings, which only you know. You've got to inspect the car to see if it's clean enough to proceed.

Thanks for the replies. You guys all make solid points. I’ll give it a quick rewash......

Even a brief waterless should do if things don’t look bad.

Thanks Mike! Funny you had almost an exact situation ten years ago. You’re way further ahead of me than that but hey I feel like I’m on the right path asking the right questions (I hope). I haven’t made it back to the project yet but I will try and get some pics to see what the rain did.
