Ridgid 2611,any other users here?

Never used the Rigid 2611, as I already have a PC, UDM and a rotary. I have the Rigid 4050 vac and absolutely love it. Perfect combo of size/portability and power.

Any other Ridgid fans here?
I have been using it for several months now (there is a picture of it when I got it in my gallery on Autopia) and absolutely love it. It and my XC 3401 VRG are for me musts that are always in the "tool" bag ready to be taken almost anywhere I go.

What is it?
4 amp random orbital with very fine orbit (1/8") and high OPMs (10K) that has next to none vibrations and extremely affordable price on top of Ridgid's lifetime warranty. Perfect for paint cleaning when correction is not needed. Something you could give to an absolute noob.

I have a 2611 I bought on closeout from HD..and it works fine...I use it at times for just a paint cleaning tool....its light and fast...Zoran and i talked on this last summer and i got one and told him how it worked for me...the small orbit makes it a nice tool for finishing also...

As Zoran said..it vibration free....its nice for doing Motorcycles as its compact also

Did you guys remove or keep the rubber outer ring around the backing plate?

I removed it. It was getting in my way, both when I wanted to press the pad down / tilt it and and when I was trying to center pad. With it removed I am much more happy.

Yesterday I removed mine seeing that it is kind of in the way using some pads however it's also supposed to be some sort of brake according to the manual.

Wonder if it hurts it's operation?

Did you reinsert all the screws after you pulled off the guard/brake?

I did btw...if it makes any difference.

Well.....

I tried it without the brake/guard however I found it to be more "clanky" with a little play in the backing plate.

Once I reinstalled the guard the BP was tight again and all was normal.

I'm just going keep it on as it does seem to do something after all.

Perhaps I could just trim off the outer ring?

I was wondering if anyone has had problems with the backing plate not sticking to the velcro on the pads. I have had a 2611 for right at a month now used it a few times and did great, now all of a sudden it won't stick to the velcro but feels fine when I run my hand over it
Thanks for any info

I haven't experienced anything like that. Have you tried brand new pad to make sure it is not the pad?

In the worst case here is good part about Ridgid tools: lifetime warranty.

Yes I have tried a new pad and different pads. That's true great warranty
Thanks
