Rim / Caliber Painting

My friend recently painted the calibers on his 96 mustang to red and rims to black.

I have not taken a closer look, but from pictures his job looks solid. He asked if I would like the same done for my car, because my rims are rediculously beat up from previous owner. Worn down in parts, bit rusty etc. Would cost more to properly sand them down and powder coat them than to get new rims entirely. Neither of which I have money for right now / see the necessity for.

Also brake calipers are pretty covered in rust and whatnot.

1. What do you think of how this car would look with black (same) wheels?

2. Red calipers?

3. My friend is just an enthusiast by no means a pro at this, so what could be potential future dangers of not getting this process done by a pro? Assuming we will obviously cover everything up take the wheels off etc.

4. How much / who could do it if I were to actually go to a professional place? (im in new jersey)

On a silver car with black wheels, blue calipers look awesome!
 
1) The car would look fine with black wheels, but IMO I think either gunmetal gray or black with a small red line on the outer part of the rim would look nice.

2) red calipers would look nice. Rustoleum makes paint specific for brake calipers. This is an relatively simple DIY project.

3)The rims should be properly bead blasted to prep for paint. You have a chrome outer lip (probably clearcoated) on what looks like brushed aluminum wheels that both show surface rust/brake lining etchings.

4) To have them professional done will cost about $50-100/per wheel. This is dependent on extent of damage and what you want done with them.

3/4. What about getting them professionaly powder coated? The whole point of this is to essentially get the wheels looking more presentable / hide their imperfections. Thus the black paint. Wouldn't getting them bead blasted and then painting them run me a bit much in perspective

And who would you suggest I look up to even get a quote on this?
 
Any body shop can paint the wheels. I just had mine done. They were titanium silver and are now black. Cost me $200 per wheel.
I would avoid powder coating because they may warp because of the heat involved and for touch up purposes paint is easier.

Lambo rims? Seriously?

And at $200 per rim it would be cheaper for me to just get new rims.
 
You wanted an idea of cost, I was just trying to help. And yes, Lambo wheels.
 
@jimmyjam: take a look at John's post of some tasteful modifications of his yellow Lambo. Yes, he rolls like that....time for me to go home in my beige Toyota
