Rinseless Washes - 2022

Thanks for posting that explanation. The response to me sounds like pure marketing mumbo jumbo. I like and use ONR so I'm not sour on the product just skeptical about what's new about version 6.

V6….

Looks interesting. I think I'm finally going to try ONR sometime this year. I'm using labo's preludio too - like yourself- as needed so i don't care if say something like feynlab as more cleaning power. Misguided? Maybe. :)

I'm kinda turned off from surfactant based rinseless products since watching detail projects video's on the SDS.

If you like Feynlab v3 RW try Carbon Collective RW, it's right there with it

So I can't see a version on my ONR, does that mean I'm still using version 1? I don't know when I'm going to get to the end of it. The only thing I use it on currently is the plastic floors and rubber mats in FJ.

It will be at least pre v5 as they were putting gold v5 stickers on the bottles before transitioning to an all-new label.

Yeah, I think we are past the point of major breakthroughs now, so whatever he has done, its going to be minor alterations.

I will say, of all the detailing companies, OPT isn't really the type for mumbo-jumbo marketing.

Honestly, i'm getting lazy again with my wash routine lol It's warming up however. I had a chance the last few days for a spruce up but i was just not feeling it. (I did manage a half ass garden hose rinse off - lots of dirt!.)

I do have a new clay towel to play with this year. Never used one before. I bought it from infinitywax canada for less than $10 on sale. Looks like good quality. It will be a steal if it works like TRC's blue clay scrubber. Very similar perforated material but black in this case. Good stitching in the cloth.

I like claying, it works and gives me another reason to polish. :D I usually end up with some marring but it's very easy to remove with the polisher.

So sounds like TRCMA is more of a giant commercial from The Rag Company as opposed to a more methods/tips/tricks seminar.
Am I correct with that assumption?

D’oh. Finally used up my older ONR* and bought a new bottle and as soon as I do they bring out a new version. Guess I’ll miss out on the slickness. Went on a rinseless buying jag. Besides the ONR, got DIY v2, Hero, Iconic, and even Pan’s stuff to try out (plus the absolute).

* bet version 2 but who knows. It was my second bottle of the stuff.

That’s my impression.

They only put a version label on v.5. They stopped making v.1 a long time ago, around 2010? If you had quart bottle it would be easier to tell, v.2 was still in the translucent bottle like your gallon, while v.3 and after was clear. I think v.5 came out about 2 years ago, they seem to come out with new versions every 2 or 3 years.

Yes, it's a promotional event for TRC and their principals. They do generally have live demos though, seems like they have a Solution Finish/ZZ Top segment every year.

I would buy an 8oz bottle when they would come out with a new version, to satisfy my curiosity without filling up my shelves too much. Unfortunately, like you I fell off the wagon and got a couple new ones on Black Friday, as well as a couple more recently.

OPT is fine tuning their product, which they seem to do every 2+ years or so. I like that they continue to refine and tell us what was added or changed, but just MHO.

Yes, v.5 came out 2 years ago, and v.4 two years before that. There was at least 6 years between v.3 & v.4.

Apparently Optimum is rolling out some new products in the days before TRCMA, the way they did before SEMA. I'm going to start a different thread about it.

Pretty sure there just catching up in the slightest slickness dept.

Agreed, which is preferable to a company launching a product and forgetting about it. Some of the larger brands could learn from this rather than just renaming existing products every 5 years as the latest and greatest when all they did was change the name, color and label.

TRCMA is a TRC's online trade show, designed to give detailers an insight into the brands and products TRC sells, and detailers use. I find that direct to manufacturer information quite insightful, often present within a demonstration of the product or tool. For me, I don't have direct access to these brands or the people behind them, so watch to learn about new products and how they came to market.

As for it being a giant commercial.........................well, that's the whole point. TRC are a company that sells products to make money, just like we buy products to help us make money, or trading our time detailing someone's car in exchange for money. I often wonder why people get so upset over this, as if TRC and their YouTube channel are simply for entertainment purposes only, its a large business.

At the end of the day, the whole TRCMA week is funded by TRC, and it's quite a large undertaking with many contributors....................certainly not a single guy with a camera on a tripod in his garage type of deal. So as far as I'm concerned, its natural for it be about selling stuff, what would be the point otherwise.

At least OPT is adding the revision stickers but it can get confusing for the customer. Unless you order it direct, you wouldn't necessarily know what version you're getting. Similar with DIY. You have to look at the color, etc. Something could be said for at least partially renaming so we know what we're getting.

I know of one supplier who was selling v4 and v5 back-to-back for nearly a year, they were giving the customer the choice of either version via a option tab.

It will be interesting to watch House of Rags "copy" the TRC business model. Korean microfibers, very similar towel packaging, supporting youtube videos, etc. ...
