Rinseless Washes - 2022

The new McKee's 37 rinseless sponge and drying towel look really cool but I don't understand the logic of making one side black. Personally, I prefer lighter colors so you can see if it's clean or not. I must be in a minority since the DIY legacy sponge has a black side and they didn't change the color when they recently revised it.

I feel the sameway.

Lake Country has just recently release an updated blue sponge. Looks interesting since they actually work/manufacter with the foam.

I have the Big Gold Sponge its holding up fine after about 4 years.

ONR V6 is the best version they have made. Kudos to Dr. G for finally getting it right after V4 was mediocre and V5 was slightly better.

Does that mean you have a review coming? Are you going to be testing their new coating, also?

I was going to post in his video but decided it wasn't worth it

It's beating a dead horse with the 1BM vs. 2BM but....how much was in his bucket again

All these versions...try and get it right at first and maybe, just MAYBE, a tweak after a while, talk about "spitballing"

Here's kinda what I was going to post, just get Feynlab v3 or Labocosmetica Idrosave and call it a day, this way you've got your pure cleaner and one that adds protection, both used according to situstuon....it's a wrap

Crazy how opinions can differ so much.
To be fair to The Guz, he didn't say ONR was good, just that V.6 was is the best ONR. I guess we'll have to wait for his review (if he's doing one).

I watched a little of the vid, doesn't seem like the media staining has been improved any for v.6.

Is the staining due to being a polymer only (ie the surfactants doing the media cleaning) or is it something else? Is there a polymer rinseless that doesn’t have media staining?

OPT has always maintained that the staining is due to the product breaking down the dirt so effectively into small...particles(?) that it penetrates deep into the wash media, but somehow this is safe/ok. I don't really use ONR for washing anymore, I use ONRWW (original version) and it stains just as badly. The worst stainer I've used is Idrosave. I watched a little more of that vid above, and they guy said the staining didn't come even after laundering, to which I say...welcome to the world of ONR.

McKee's 37 V2 is really good. It's been my go to over the last couple of years or so. I was also happy to find out that it's been the best performing rinseless that Detail Projects has tested so far. I would try Idrosave but heard that it can leave spots behind if it dries anywhere on the car. I'm hoping Labocosmetica comes out with a rinseless that doesn't leave any protection.

Whenever anyone says this, my response is "why are you letting it dry on the car?". I thought that was the whole point with rinseless was to avoid conditions where you could get spots. Wash a panel, dry a panel.

I've never had issues with Idrosave like that but I dry one panel at a time and no direct sunlight anywhere

Yes to the review on ONR and no to testing their new coating.

I did watch and he seems like a nice guy. One takeaway is that this is his version of ONR ever since he is relatively new to the scene. I have used ONR since the early 2000's and V6 brought back good vibes of where it is headed.

Clean by Pan, Adams Hoseless won't stain and they are polymer based with a bit of surfactants. They actually clean very well.

Skip Idrosave. It is not worth the money. I tossed mine out. Labo dropped the ball on it big time. Bringing out out a completely different product than their initial concept of no protection. I myself had issues with it staining the pad. I have received comments and direct emails of various people saying it stained their sponges and not only turning their towels hydrophobic but also their sponges. I also had issues with it staining my sponge and it required some APC to clean it out as best as possible. Also the spotting issue as the protection is pretty stout.

Yes it can spot and if not caught in time will linger as the protection is stout. Labo dropped the ball on this as I previously stated.

I wish you had thrown Idrosave my way, not sure if you meant that literally or figuratively

Never used them and for the time being have no desire to use them. What I can say they have indeed complicated the rinseless wash process by having them.

The concept makes sense, I have them, tried them and when doing a RW on the car after driving in the rain persay, I'll keep using the alkaline pre-wash, adds a layer of safety to the process but then again I seem to be the only one who uses 2BM & grit guards when doing MOST of my RW's

How about their 3pH wash system, have to assume you don't care for that either

It's not intentional but it can happen from overspray, missing a few spots, less than ideal conditions or just not following up with a second clean drying towel. Any spots left over from Idrosave are so stout that you have to polish them to get them off. It's not worth it for me to use a product that is so unforgiving. Even Reggie from Labocosmetica has said multiple times that the way the product was formulated was a big mistake but that they are going to learn from it and will eventually release another rinseless wash.

Idrosave is decent but i won't be getting it again. For some reason i haven't had any staining issues. I used it 3 or 4x now.

I seen a video of Reggy were he seem very disappointed that the chemist addded protection to the final product but no mention of another product, maybe i missed it....

Tried the Nighthawk CTX rinseless recently:

It's a different product from most other rinseless washes I've tried - it is very thick and sort of cumbersome to pour but still manageable. Very high dilution ratios. It's a decent product as it cleans pretty well and feels good while using it. The issue I have with it is that it is grabby on the dry off, like one of the more grabbier products I've tried. Plus, it can leave some clumps of product behind so it's not the easiest product to mix either.

Tried Griot's new rinseless again and I am liking it actually. The dry off is excellent and it cleans really well. It's a very good product. I just won't use a sponge with it since it stains it but with multiple towels it's really good.
