Hi AGO,
My name is Eric, 35 with a passion for anything that moves on its own power, and some times not. I am somewhat of a perfectionist and love any type of finish work; wood, metal, fixing homes, ect.... I grew up in a mechanic shop and always found a way to make something out of nothing.
When I finally stopped to look at me and my girlfriends cars from working 60+ weeks and the super busy lifestyle the past two years I naturally thought of doing a paint conditionin rehab myself.
So, here I am! I try and work on one panel a day, regardless. I don't have much time, so I'm basically prepping my car, one panel at a time to do whatever needs to be done in the weekend. I'm imagining this complete process is going to take more a few months, or more.

2black1s is a name I'm bringing with me from a motorcycle forum and it's in reference to my two black Harley's. Now I'm adding another black vehicle to my stable, a 2015 Chevy Colorado Z71, and that is what's bringing me here.
So far I've done a lot of reading here and have acquired some good information, but have yet to contribute. I'm sure that will be changing soon.
My background as far as auto detailing is concerned goes way back to the 1970s when I operated my own auto body and paint shop specializing in custom work... Corvettes, Cadillacs and motorcycles were my subjects of choice then, although I also had to do some everyday work to pay the bills at times.
My background gives me some knowledge that is applicable to the creation and care of any finish that I can hopefully share here... But I also realize that a lot has changed since the days of acrylic lacquers, enamels, and some of the earliest urethanes to today's finishes and processes. I'm looking forward to a give-n-take to benefit all.
