So i have some mild oxidation my accord's roof. What kind of compounds do you guys recommend using and pad for this kind of oxidation?

I ordered some Pinnacle XMT #3 and XMT 360 with my UDM intro kit... do you guys think that will be sufficient to get to job done with an orange pad? Or do i need some XMT #1 too?

Actually, your best bet would be to use a paint cleaner before compounding to remove all of the dead paint. If you don't use a paint cleaner, the compound won't work effectively because the dead paint will clog your pads and it'll be a mess. Once you use a paint cleaner you can use a compound to fix any other defects. That damage looks pretty rough ... it may be too far gone and a repaint may be the only way to get it 100%. But give a paint cleaner and then the polish a shot... you have nothing to lose.

What he said. Paint cleaner first to see what paint condition is like before compounding/polishing.

what kinda paint cleaner do u guys recommend? I got meguiars 3 step...

I thought with oxidation. You had to use a SG/Dawn misture to remove the dead paint.

XMT 3 should be aggressive enough for this type of oxidation. Follow it up with XMT 360.

we'll i finally got some time to use the new UDM. I have to say it was worth every penny. All the oxidation on the roof is pretty much gone.

I started with a NXT carwash, followed up my claying. Then orange pad with the XMT #3, then XMT 360 with a blue pad, and NXT 2.0 wax with white pad. I don't think my accord has ever been shiner. A good 8 hrs of work... my arm and wrist is wore but it was all worth it... :D

That looks more like clear coat failure to me.

JMO but the paint on your accord wouldn't oxidize that way. I could be wrong, that looks like a 90s honda, and lots and lots of them have clear coat failure

Thanks for the info XprincoX, my g/f car looked the exact same on the roof of her car and now I know what to use!
