Rotary buffing trick I tried

I just tried and had great success with a technique I tried with a rotary buffer.
I applied and spread my compounds and polishes to the panel with the pad before I attached it to the backing plate.
This really helped cut down on splatter and sling.

If you already knew this trick, sorry didn't mean to offend ya, just thought I'd share.
 
Yeah, I just had to do that a few days ago, but I kept the pad attached to the backing plate (bp) and the bp to my Makita. I'm becoming quite good at picking up beads from paint, but I couldn't, for the life of me, pick it up cleanly off my headlights. I was slinging M105 everywhere including myself!
