Rotary polishing small areas???

Hey guys how do you use a rotary to polish smaller areas of a vehicle? Like say the upper door frame area where its just a couple of inches of painted metal. I usually go both back and forth and up and down on most areas but that seems impractical on such a thin area of paint. Do I just go back and forth and leave the up and down for larger surfaces? Got lots of swirls in those particular areas and would like to remove them.

Buy the smaller size pads 4" may work or i've seen postings about doing it by hand .Also buy the smaller BP for thos pads.Spot Pads

I am using the Edge system, do they make anything smaller then a 6 inch pad?

That i don't know haven't seen any.I use the LC ccs ones you can pick up a starter kit for around 50 bucks on AG
