Rubber gloves

I wear gloves, even with what seem like the gentlest of automotive chemicals. At the very least, it keeps you hands from feeling dried out from IPA or other things in the product, at best it keeps you from developing potentially fatal diseases.

It doesn't cost much, less than a 10¢ per pair in most cases. You don't go through many per detailing session, and it is a small price to pay for a life full of ailment (or at least potential ailment). If you lick up some of the chemicals used in various cleaner, polishes, and other products you think twice about using them without PPE ever again...

Grease monkey nitrile gloves through 90% of the process. Most detailing chemicals have much nastier ingredients than you imagine. Just because it doesn't hurt or burn when it touches you doesn't mean it can't harm you.
