If you run into a car lover that loves their car and wants to take care of the car.

However he went to an Auto Body shop and was quoted $100 to "color sand" (his words)

What would you guys tell him of why not to go to them?

What comes to mind is all the CC they will be taking off. Yeah it will make it look "prettier" but there is no reason for removing so much CC

I was thinking a medium to light swirl remover, but who knows till a test spot is applied (to correct the paint) then just glaze, seal, wax the paint.

A body shop will just jump straight to compound the apply a carnauba wax.

Which will look great until it wears off.

Respectful Opinions please.

Thank You

Thank you Davey, I think I am seeking more Layman's Terms. So a Non-Detailer can understand.

Layman's Terms:
To put something in layman's terms is to describe a complex or technical issue using words and terms that the average individual (someone without professional training in the subject area) can understand, so that they may comprehend the issue to some degree.
Instead of saying:

"You need a new piston, valve guides, stator, and counter-shaft balancer"

In layman's terms you'd say:

"There are some internal parts that need replaced"

Nicholas, you seem like a Detailer that in this situation would go to his car. Bring out the laptop and do a super legit power point presentation. Lol

The picture thing does seem like a good idea. However I am on my phone.

It's also possible he was trying to impress you and had actually never got a quote from the body shop. These days I don't think a body shop would even buff the finish for $100 let alone wet sand, compound, polish, and wax.

Look him straight in the eye and tell him he has a beautiful car and good luck. If you have a business card leave it with him...:props:

:iagree:

Thank You Bobby, that is a strong possibility, because he does know I Detail.

Business cards would have been the solution to this.

Thanks

:iagree: This would have been along the lines of what I would have done if i'd been in your shoes.
