Rupes Advanced

Does anyone have some experience with Rupes Advance? I’m hoping to use it for a car of ours to do a quick polish to clean up light defects while adding gloss. I like that it can be used quickly as I don’t have time for my usually for paint correction.

What pads have people paired it with? Rupes recommend the white and I have some SDO black, orange and blue. Black would be the most similar to the Rupes white I’d say but I do reach for my Orange SDO mostly I must admit.

I was planning to top with bead coat or a similar sealant.

I would use the LC orange too. The soft finishing pads are best suited for 2 step polishing. Using the black sdo pad will be a waste of time imo.

I have about 12 foam pads and 8 or so are medium orange and yellow foam pads

Lots of people 1 step with the BLUE SDO/HDO too for harder and more weathered paint. It did finish out fine one time i tried it on my bonnet - 3D 520 i think i used - but i did go back over it with a rupes white just to be safe lol

The new light blue rupes pad would be close to the blue SDO in results.

Yeah I'm sure you will be fine with lake country's orange pads with a super fine polish. Of course you could try a different liquid. Some AIO's have decent correction. But we are splitting hairs at this point. Advanced does have abrasives and besides being mindful of the thin consistently its not hard to use. Easy wipe off.

I started to smear it on the pad a little more because it can run off the pad if your not careful.

btw Rupes UNO Advanced has a sweet looking bottle. Best looking bottle of polish i have.

I would just keep using the Scholl stuff. 3D One and S20 are both 1 step light cutting polishes. Very similar performance i'd imagine. I have use One a nice bit. Its oily if you use to much.

3D One is a medium cutting compound/polish that can finish out with world class gloss, so to put it. lol

Advanced is a mild polish that has some kind of stinky smelling protection liquid inside.

If i wanted one polish of those 2 it would be 3D One by a mile and something like Sonax Ultra Slick detailer for some pretty beads.

Yeah they are a bit different but both seem to have a relatively fast working time which is what I’m after for this detail.

The Rupes is probably the fastest so will go with that at first. Once I buy it I’ll just have to use it and see how I go. I don’t know what condition the car will be in, so if requires more cut than Advanced I’ll just do a more aggressive once over with something like 3D one in a year or two.

Why do you say the 3D by a mile? Is that because of the whole it being more of a traditional polish (one step) than an AIO? I have a few different Ceramic detailers already and was doing to lay down more of a sealant first. I’ve got Gyeon, CarPro, Megs and a few others. I’ll sue those as a drying aid on top of some sort of ceramic based sealant. Not sure on the sealant yet but I’d like to try Collinite Beadcoat maybe.

Just the fact it can remove some decent defects really. DA fine is a nice polish too with some bite to it. 3D One is good but many similar products out their so i'm no One fanboy.

I like working with Perfect Finish, Labo's leale etc more. One has more bite than those 2 however all things being equal. Sonax's cut and finish would be closer to One.

For a new car i doubt you would need anything more aggressive than Leale or Perfect Finish. Both are easier to work with than One. I did get a little dusting a few weeks ago with Perfect Finish - high humidity - but its not hard to remove. Much easier than One. Leale wipes off easy too and i have yet to see it dust. (I really don't like tough wipe downs! I tried my first wax a few weeks back what a horrible experience. Same day i used perfect finish.) Looks fantastic however, i don't think my bonnet has ever looked so rich. Its Infinity wax's supergloss+. Very nice beads too. I have the spray wax too can't wait to try it now when i get back home. Smells that good i like to drink it. haha

I’ll probably stick with the Rupes Advanced for now and see how that goes. If the car needs something more aggressive I can go over it again with a more dedicated polish with more bite like perfect finish or something in a year or two when I have a bit more time. If advanced can add some gloss, remove minor defects and lay down a good base for it to be topped with a ceramic sealant that’s good enough for now I think.

I usually ask the dealer not to touch the car and have gotten away with just finishing polishes on the last few cars of ours by doing this. They do get delivered quite dirty this way and cleaning them takes a bit of time. I’ll let the dealer do their thing this time to save me time in cleaning at the front end and can remove anything they add later on. Last time I had the dealer prep the car it was pretty good with no marring or anything.
