Rupes Duetto!

You absolutely nailed it, Dan. I find a RO much nicer to use and I know how to finesse/manipulate to pad in most cases. However, I don’t have the patience or time for this.

“He likes the 3401 because he can concentrate on polishing the paint - not maintaining pad rotation.”

I couldn’t agree more.

Right tool for the right technician / job.

So I used it last night with a red hdo waxing pad to wax my car. It's very nice it's smoother then the g15 and spins better. I can already tell I'll be using this alot. I'm probably going to do the washer mod. I noticed it does still bog down on curves and contours. Not as much as the g15 but it still does.

I think my opinion is you just can not use a long throw polisher on fenders or round type curves it just does not work effectively. It just doesn't work. For me I'm just automatically going to use my flex or a mini on curves and fenders it's not worth wasting time with the longer throws. Even if you use it I would bet it's not doing as good a job as you think. I don't see how it could?

Anyway this is a very nice machine the quality is top of the mine from what I've seen and I have a lot of polishers

I think we'll see a resurgence on popularity of the 3401. Anyone concerned with pad stall owes it to themselves to give one a chance. Guys have to match the machine to their style. I've seen too many guys fight with pad rotation with any of the random orbitals, and wonder why they just don't go with the 3401.

Those random orbitals take a degree of practice, finesse, and patience to "master". Some guys don't have the time, patience, or desire to deal with it. My best friend is 6' 3", 300 lbs, and really heavy handed. He hates random orbitals because they stall too much for him. He likes the 3401 because he can concentrate on polishing the paint - not maintaining pad rotation.

I honestly think you either need both or just the flex if you only have one. The flex can do everything and the long throws really can't. But they are nice to have as an add on to your collection

So what about the mini that's on my radar now. The Flex mini vs the Rupes mini? I already have a gg3 and I want to upgrade that next....
