Rupes Knock Off

Mann. All this hate for China. Remember when they were our Aliies?

Yeah, it's called Taiwan now. LOL.

I haven't seen them or didn't even know a knock off was being made. Wonder how it compares to my real 21

Here's a pic of said machine!! From the research I have done, backing plates are not interchangeable with the Rupes... I believe this is a 21 mm version. Not sure if they make a 15! I also do not know who is making this, but I have heard rumor the cost to buy and ship is around $100 US! Don't hold me to that this info is all from a different forum and not personal experience! I only have personal experience with my lhr15 which I love dearly! Soon going to add the mini to my rupes arsenal!

I see a difference in Chiang Kai-shek led Chinese forces helping us knock-off the Japanese during WWII...
(China and Japan had been fighting each other for years---we actually helped them get rid of that "problem")...
and knocking-off everyones' technologies; and being let contracts for construction projects on American soil.

I remember when Chiang Kai-shek had to flee China for Formosa (Taiwan)
sometime in the early 1950's to escape the Communist revolts in China.

Communist revolts?
Remember when this guy (per: arrow) was a friend of the Allies?

He wasn't ever involved in knocking-off any Americans, was he?

Bob

Who Uncle Joe? No, he was a great guy. We (America) helped him cover up the 4,000 Poles he murdered via the NKVD in the Katyn Forrest. We backed Uncle Joe when he blamed it on the SS. Not to mention the tens of millions of his own people he starved, slaughtered, or worked to death.

Yeah, Josef Stalin was our friend.

I love this thread, has gone from knock off Chinese products, to buy Merican, to steel and now history, classic but it all makes sense when you look this all over!

In my opinion the rupes is a good working machine but feels like it's a Chinese knock off already. It's doesn't feel like a very sturdy tool, time will tell though

Explain. Having had mine fall 6 feet off a ladder and only crack the 'carbon fiber' cover and still operate normall is good in my book. It gets pushed hard daily and no signs of wear. Feed back please

I would like to hear this too. In fact, I witnessed the Rupes being ran over by a Jeep this summer. Still worked great even in 90 degree weather.

I use mine as a full time tool and I haven't had any issues I just think that the housing feels rather light in comparison to my flex. It's just a personal opinion, and like I said, I haven't had any issues with the machine and time will tell for it's durability

Yes that is the one. Backing plates from Rupes are not the correct thread for it. It is a 21mm throw. They don't make a 15 (yet). Made by Ningbo Ansiauto in China of course. Total cost to get one on your door step is $130 and that includes shipping. They want $74 for a sample machine and $56 for shipping to the U.S. They do make another machine with a 12mm throw. Hard to describe what it looks like, but it does not look like the new Rupes LHR 12E. And no, I would not buy either. I don't mind products being made in China, but when said product is a direct blatant copy of something else, then I have a problem with it.

Both the PC and the DeWalt are made in China, too.

Yes I am aware that they are made in China so is my microwave oven. America does trade with China so a certain amount of our money ends up in their hands. My point is Rupes is made in Italy and for China to copy and product their products is for one illegal and very wrong. Whoever wants to can go ahead and support the Chinese illegally that's your choice I won't be doing it with my money.

I don't think a rotary or DA polisher is an invention that only a single brand is capable of producing. Especially rotary polishers. Its not impossible for a company to make a DA polisher with larger throw to mimic Rupes. And its def not hard to make a rotary polisher. Question is if the design and quality is any good. These polishers might just break down soon after use.

I've seen these polishers at work in China. I played with a few of them when I was in China last year and they seemed to be decent. They did seem kind of loud (gears probably not very precise) but they do work as intended. They are rebranded by many companies in Asia and resold. I'm going to be bringing in a few models to take apart and compare them to the originals to see if they really did copy the internals or if they are only made to look like the originals.

Someone dig up Jack Palance, his original show has some new material, LOL!

How good is warranty service on the Italian Rupes?

Send it to any of the approved service centers. I'd send it to Kevin Brown, he knows these machines and offers awesome service.

I'll wait for many more more experienced users/tinkerers before jumping on the wagon. For a big operation it seems like an interesting alternative to paying $400 per tool.

Notice the MShine on the body of my GG6. Does this mean the same maker of Rupes knock off?

Yes they do make the GG6 which is why everyone this this knock off will be branded by griots.

Funny how some people think this world still follows rules and works on fairness. This country rights the rule books and doesn't follow them. Don't blame companies for outsourcing when that is what the government has allowed and what lay people have demanded. A lot of people what things cheaper and don't want to be the ones making the stuff/working. How many people own a smart phone/cell phone that's made in the U.S.? The U.S. is allowing China to receive our outsourcing and such in return them owing so much of our debt, and a big chance we will never pay them back. It's also causing China to be pushed into industrial overload on their environment and resources at hyper speed. There is a lot to it all.
We are not that great of a country when it comes to how we treat others so why judge China for trying to be industrious? Don't think the Rockefellers give two poops where their riches came/come from. You think China doesn't pay their workers try looking at what someone on welfare in this country makes compared to someone working for minimum wage. That is all a product of corporations, government, and the world's richest. Oh, and because society is programmed by government and corporate media programming and propaganda. But what does that really have to do with anything?...
