rupes pads on non-rupes polisher?

Like the title says...

I have been looking at the rupes system and really like the simplicity. I realize I could get a similar result from using the Megs soft-buff pads and any myriad of the existing products out there (currently have 6.5" LC CCS and some 5" LC flats, as well as a couple megs and B&S fiber pads until I decide what I like more) but the simplicity of the rupes system is appealing.

I have an MT300, but I can't imagine the rupes 15 (in concept) is THAT much different to where you couldn't use the rupes pads on it. Anyone done it before?
 
I used to run Rupes microfiber on my Porter Cable quite often.
 
I like RUPES 6" pads on tools like the Griot's Garage 6" DA

The blue rotates well on the Porter Cable because it's light and airy, the green and yellow start out good but as they become wet you get more pad stall on the PC, not a problem with the Griot's.

I show the RUPES 7" blue on the RUPES and FLEX 3401 for marine gel-coat finishing.

Thanks Mike. That being the case I'm assuming the mt300 is at least equal to the gg6 if not more powerful?

dont know yet really what benefit id see over LC flat pads or B&S pads but good to know it's an option.

Actually, I think the MT300 is less powerful than the Griot's.
 
Shoot I think you're right. 500w on the megs vs 850. Wish I would have known that before I bought the mt300 though I prefer the 'long tail' of the megs.

Wattage isn't always an indicator, as the harbor freight DA has more pad spinning torque than the Griot's, and it only has a 600 watt motor. However, the HF isn't as smooth as the Griot's and it's a lot louder.

I've used both the MT300 and the Griot's and the Griot's felt more powerful.
 
I have tried Rupes pads on my MT300 and they worked fine. It has plenty of power and torque to spin them and correct the paint. No need to worry about that.

I rarely use my MT300 these days but the thin Meguiar's foam pads for me are still a better option for the MT300.
