I just purchased a rupes ta50. It came with a in line regulator and short hose. I connected the regulator on the ta50 polisher. The male end of the hose fit on the inlet of the regulator. The problem is that the inlet for the female end of the hose appears to be metric and the std 14 inch NPT does not screw into it as the threads are different. Anyone experience this and know where a metric fitting can be purchased?

Sorry I mised your post... here's the same answer I sent you in your PM

I ran into the same thing and because I wanted and needed to use it for a project that was looking me in the eye, I wrapped on some thread tape and screwed it in.

It went in tight but still went in.

Since I don't plan on taking it off and putting it on, taking it off and putting it on, it's kind of a one-time thing, I'm not too concerned.

I was going to go to a local hydraulic fittings and line store to see if I could find the right thread part but never got to it.

I'll be talking to Marco D'inca and I'm going to ask him about this issue but until then you can do like I did or check out some hardware stores to see if you can find a way to make it thread smoother.

Boy, if this isn't a crock o' crap. You pay over $300 for a specialty tool & it doesn't work out of the box. I certainly don't consider Rupes a leader in the industry if they manufacture crap like this. There's no sense in it.

It's a small issue, that is the fitting either being tight or not right thread for the U.S. market. Since you revived this post from 2 years ago and I haven't ever found out if the issue has been remedied, I'll send a message to Dylan @ Rupes and see if he can chime in with an update.

Sorry to hear about this, and I also apologize for my general ignorance of the problem - I've requested a random batch of the TA50's be transferred over to my office today. Once I get them I'll open them up and see if I have the same problem. In any event we'll get to the bottom of it.

The TA50 is a tool that technically was never formerly introduced into the US market, so that might explain the standard v. metric issue. Its considered a special order and not many of them are sold here in the US. As such might have some EU specific fittings we'll have to work around. As soon as I have a definitive answer I'll jump back on here and update everyone. Thanks for your patience.

Just pulled in 2 units from the warehouse and couldn't recreate the fitment issue. The pic below is simply hand tight, but I could put a wrench on any of the connections and easily snug down, no threads were binding, no compatibility issues. Anyone who has experienced an issue with a TA50 similar to what was described earlier please get in touch with me via email: [email protected] so we can investigate the problem and make it right - perhaps a batch of fittings that was out of spec? Hard to know for sure, but the current inventory on hand appears to be fine.
