Has anyone used Rupes UHS & matching pads on clear coat? Lexus to be exact. I want to try it but thought I would ask the pros here first. It is the metallic white paint & was repainted by dealer under warranty about 3 years ago. Paint is in good shape but has some minor scratches & light swirls.

UHS system on a Gold and a Black Lexus IS250, came out nice.

yup I use with Rupes 21es UHS and UHS pad.

Works great for both Soft paint and hard paint as one step.

I used the UHS on a 2011 Lexus in pearl white. Can't recall if it was starfire pearl or opaline pearl. The car had the driver side fender, and door repainted. Customer wanted the orange peel wet sanded. While the painted panel had a harder clear coat, I was still able to correct the swirling from the wetsand and buffing step on those panels. The rest of the car was extremely easy with the UHS system. The oem clear coat was on the softer side so it was a breeze. The only thing that was difficult about this particular car was finding the swirls. Light colors sure do love hiding defects.

go in very dark room if you can... and use only one light source pointing at the panal that you are polishing.. hope that helps !!!!!! happy polishing

I love the UHS system! Very smooth and easy to polish with! It's not made for heavy correction but does have a decent cut. Leaves the paint very glossy! I have used it with both Rupes 21 and Flex 3401 systems with success!

At a Rupes event I attended last Saturday Jason Rose told us that Uhs can and should be our starting point.
If you need more they do have blue fome and yellow and blue microfiber pads.
He only recommend the green in situations when the paint is not cooperating.
This is what I heard clearly in his presentation..

So blue foam over green foam for initial cutting/compound when UHS can't get it done?.... I was gonna order some green pads to use as my main cutting pad on my 15 mk2 followed by yellow

Do not have pictures but did my 2015 Black Z06 which was repainted or rather re clear coated last November (long story got blasted on both sides in a construction zone) and it was done shall we say to a higher standard than Bowling Green does them the other did last weekend was my 2014 GMC Sierra Denali in the white tri coat. The vette has Soft clear and it shows every dust scratch and needed some minor correction which I did first before the UHS and the GMC is fairly hard paint.

My My was I impressed with the results esp on the truck--freaking knocked my eyes out in the sun. Noticeable difference is no the word... I know post is worthless without pics. I rained yesterday here in the DFW area but will after it gets washed. The vette looks like a pool of liquid squid ink....

If you have minor scratches and light swirls, I would use green and yellow rupes pads with UHS compound. Grey (UHS pad) and blue might be too harsh, and both are difficult for contour the panels due to its stiffness.
I also used on a 3401 and PE14, with lake country hybrids and even microfiber pads, it has great tolerance for different polishers and systems; I consider it an amazing polishing compound, it works according to your pad choice, from cutting to finishing.
Shake it well before use, since it is water based, a bit of particle deposition at the bottom.
Please Sir, keep us posted regarding the method chosen/results, and best regards.
