Sad news today

I'm so sorry to hear about Lizzy. I've had to put down 2 of my huskies in the last 2 years and I have many pics and vids on my phone that I still look at to this day when I'm feeling down. It always sucks losing a member of "the pack".

Dammit. :( R.I.P. Lizzie.

Tough thing to deal with, Paul. I know all too well the mixed emotions that come with the passing. The sadness of losing a family member, the empty house syndrome, and also the relief deep down that she isn't hurting anymore, and maybe, just maybe, she's somewhere running faster than any dog has run before....

I'll sure be thinking of you guys, Paul.

I had to put my first Akita down, due to canine leishmaniasis, it is endemic where I live.
She died in my arms, I felt her life ending in a shudder.
I felt like a traitor, since she was used going to the vet after countless times and thousands of dollars in med bills, she thought would be just one more time.
Man, was it ever awful. I felt like I was the lowest human being on face of the earth.
It was few days before Xmas, a very sad Xmas for me and my family.

You're not a traitor. No way, man. Your family did right by her. Some things cannot be helped. My wife works at or local vet hospital. I don't know how she does it, but one thing she always says is this: Every pet owner thinks that they should/could have done more, when in fact, just the caring nature of taking an animal into your home, treating it like a member of the family, and looking after its every need says more than words could ever say about a person and how they view life.

Please remember this, RPM.
