Being from up north i have customers asking me if i can take care of salt stains. Ive tried with an extractor but no luck. Anyone have any advice? Ive heard 50-50 white vinegar and warm water...?

Thanks, Seth

Last weekend I took my mom's floor mats, which hadn't been cleaned in 2 years, and tried getting the salt stains out. Tried folex with light agitation then used my bissell proheat, did that twice and it got better, but not perfect. The third time I basically soaked them in folex (sprayed a lot) then sprayed even more hot water on them. I used a tire brush to scrub the crap out of them(this time it was very sudsy). Did a few rinses with clean water in the bissell and they came out looking brand new.

If that didn't work I was going to try the 50/50 vinegar route, I had read that worked some people. Good luck!

I've had good luck with a carpet brush and warm water also. Takes some elbow grease but does come out.

what kind of extractor did you use? I use a mytee lite II and just the hot water gets rid of all salt stains.

vinegar will leave a smell so you really need to rinse it well

my extractor blasts them out too.

you can also try salteraser. it works pretty good, but if your extractor didnt touch them, im not sure salteraser will help.

There is a dedicated product for this called "Road Salt Remover". A quick search of the interwebs will reveal it. There are demos on YouTube as well.
