I know Im not going to get much sympathy from people inland or up in the cold north but, here goes.

I live on the intracoastal close to the ocean in SO FL and when the wind blows I get a film over the car that ,I assume, comes from the salt in the air from the ocean.

What would be the least marring way to clean this off? or do I have to just wash the car almost every day?

I live on salt water in south Florida. I just try and keep my cars washed and sealed and I don't have any problems.

A durable sealant will be a must for you.

My father works for a Nissan dealership one block off the beach here in S Florida. His car is black and consistenty shows a sand and salty film. Washing more often and good paint sealants have kept the car looking brand new !

I park less than 1/4 mile from the ocean every day at work. You can see the salt buildup on the windows, especially in the morning and evening when the sun is low. I generally do a full detail on the car and then wash it every 1-2 weeks after that.

As long as you keep protection on the paint and wheels, you should be ok. Good sealants will help with that, and the frequent Florida rain storms we get should knock off the big chunks in between washes :)

If you get the sealant on there, it will only take about an hour to wash, dry and hit your car with some quick detailer.

Thanks for the suggestion guys.

I have CG Jetseal (2 coats) topped by CG 50/50 and polycharged liquid Pinnacle.

I guess the question is when this salt film is on the car (which takes about 3 hours to form!!!) should I use a QD (afraid of marring since its black) or just spray off the car with water and dry w/ a QD or ???

Doesn't seem to be pracitcal to fully wash the car every 12 hours or so.

I don't think you will need to wash your car as much as you think - the sealant will protect in between washes. You may just need to apply sealant more often than every 3-4 months.
