My advice on scratches like that are not to touch the paint unless you have a thickness guage that will give you a starting point and progress along the way can be seen. Depending on thickness, I would recommend chasing RIDS like that much at all. One never "removes" a scratch, the process of polishing and sanding simply levels the surrounding area to lesson or hide the appearance of the scratch but at a cost of the surrounding clear coat.
Think of it as the lowest point and you're creating a larger "lowest point" to simply hide it. IMO, on a stock factory paint job, not always worth it.
