So now I was looking for recommendations on what backing plates and pads to start stocking up on. I have heard good things about he meg's backing plates and was interested in the LC hydrotech pads but I also wanted to know if anyone had much experience with the edge system... 3m pads.... ect ect.

I guess I am asking "what do you use" I will need to purchase the items over time. Oh and I have a full setup of LC CCS 4inch and 5.5 inch pads from using the XP

TIA

Chris

Thanks man! I am looking forward using it. Would love tips from the master ;)

Very nice gift to find under the "tree" Chris and congratulations on getting such a good tool. I picked up a PCXP just before the fall......the weather bottomed out quickly and it sits in the box awaiting Spring.

Sorry, I can't comment on pads, process & techniques with it. BUT, hope you get a crack with your new polisher before I know I will with mine. The poor thing just sits all alone on a shelf waiting for it's first polishing success!! :)

Happy Holidays................and tell us how it works out for you.

See ya.

Congrads on the Makita, I was hoping to find a medium sized box under the tree too( Makita) but, it wasn't......still had a wonderful Christmas with my family......Now it looks like I am going to take matters into my own hands....I will get my Makita !!

Wait a minute.....my wife told me not to ask Santa for power tools because he didn't bring power tools for Christmas! I think there is something going on here......

Dana is going to tell him to get a 3M backing plate...it's only 70 bucks.

I agree with Dana. I use the 3M Perfect Backing Plate on my Metabo and love it. Ron, they did have it for $59 at that detailing place in Hawaii.

The 3M rotary buffer backing plates are very nice but so are the new Meguiar's rubberized backing plates as is the Meguiar's Solo backing plate.

The 3M Velcro is of a design that gives it the most grip I think I've ever seen in Velcro and that's a good thing but it also means being careful when you remove a pad to pull the pad off at an angle and carefully as the grip is strong enough it can loosen the Velcro off the back of your buffing pads.

There's a real science to the hoop part of hook and loop fasteners.

:)

I recently started a new series on buffing pads, (all buffing pads to be included), these first articles are on wool cutting pads but I chose to also highlight the pad attachment system in these first articles because you have 3 different designs to choose from. So maybe give the new articles a read through as you'll want to get one design style to start with.
