Sealant bonding to dealer applied coating

Quick question. Have a friend of mine wondering if a sealant would bond to a dealer applied coating. He didn't know exactly what brand but wants to put a sealant on over the coating that was done about 3 years ago. I couldn't answer it with full confidence so I thought I'd ask. Any answers would be appreciated

Do those coatings last that long? I thought they wore off.

I would say the coating is no longer on there. Generally speaking, most dealers apply something that doesn't last more than a few months. I could be wrong, and he could have worked with one of the few dealers that do great work.

But the best bet would be to figure out what coating the dealer applied, and go from there.

It's probably a sealant that the dealer called a coating to market

Not auto butler. But there are a lot of swirls in it so it seemed pretty cheap so I was planning on claying polishing then sealing. Should work

Like the other guys have said more than likely there is nothing there anymore. So you should be fine with what you plan in doing.
