Hey everybody,

I've been lucky enough to have a two car garage the past couple of years. Current life requirements are leading me to downgrade (upgrade?) from a house in the suburbs to a condo in the city. I'll have covered parking in the garage (at work too :))

My current home has the garage facing straight east so I've had to change my habits to adapt since I like to detail in the morning. I used to use Meguiar's Gold Class soap but switched to ONR since I can wash and dry each panel individually without any soap streaking. I've used KAIO and KSG for several years and have never had reason to change. Now I have problems since I usually have to wash in broad daylight, then wait a couple hours for the paint to cool in the garage before I wax.

Now that I'll be moving to a condo I will probably have to wash/wax in a parking lot next to the building with no reliable shade. ONR is cake to wash with in daylight. Are there any long lasting and glossy sealants that can be applied and removed easily in daylight? I have a silver 2006 BMW 330i so any that look good on silver would be nice.

Thanks!

:welcome: To Autogeek Online!!

It's good practice to apply all finish products out of direct sun and when the surface is not hot. Some product indicate that they can be applied in direct sun however I still apply them in the shade....:props:

Most, if not all, of Poorboy's line can be used under direct sunlight. I've used them like that before and the biggest difference I noticed was in how much faster it dried.

I just posted something similar here,

It's always best to work on a cool surface in the shade, even for products that work well in the sun, they will still work better on a cool surface in the shade.

Try getting up early and work on your car in the cool of the morning, before the sun moves too far up in the sky.

Borrow some shade from a building.

Besides the Poorboy's products mentioned, I've used the Menzerna Power Lock in full sun and as long as you move quick and only apply a thin coat it wipes off easy, same for Meguiar's M20 Polymer Sealant.

While this article is about working by machine there are some tips that might help you...

I'm a apt dweller. I do an ONR wash, then drive to the park for shade :)

I've used PB's EXP on a dark car in direct sun in 97 degree weather as a test and it removed easily.
