Sealant that will not stain trim

Hate to tell you Chilly but sunlight in the upper and lower latitudes has a higher incidence (angle) so there isn’t as much UV radiation. And even though Alaska has longer hours of sunlight, the sun is fairly low in the sky for many of those hours.

And at least in Fairbanks, they just put sand on top of the snow/ice on the roads when I was there. There weren’t many chemicals in use that I know of but that was just my experience.

The fact that you mention so many cars are in poor condition I guess means they use chemicals down where you live. I believe OCW definitely helped keep the condition of your cars but I also wonder how much of that is due to others not keeping their cars clean. Cause we know you aren’t even remotely close to 99.9% of the usual car owners in AK when it comes to upkeep.

So you are going to ruin a good argument with scientific facts?

Pftttttt

lol

Here they mix salt at 20:1 (dirt/salt) into the huge mounds of dirt/fine gravel that the state uses on the roads because it keeps the mounds from turning into a solid block of frozen dirt

A few years ago they started spraying potassium acetate on areas where they don't want to use sand and although it is less corrosive than brine it is still not your friend

It is my understanding that UVB rays are less in the higher and lower latitudes but UVA rays are not diminished up here/down there

I am sure you are correct that maintenance is one of the keys

I looked into this last time someone mentioned OCW having the only UV blocker. A quick look at 303 Graphene Nano, Griot’s 3-in-1 Ceramic Wax, and CarPro Reload all show UV protection. Adam’s, Blackfire, and Wolfgang paint sealants don’t advertise UV protection but I’m sure there are others that have UV protection. What I couldn’t find is what level of UV protection each product has but supposedly there is a minimum amount required to be able to use UV protection on the label.

I didn't say OCW is the only spray wax with UV protectant, but the only spray wax with UV protectant that is patented. Does being patented mean better?:dunno:

You could tape off the trim.

Off the top of my head

Gyeon CanCoat
Adams Graphene Spray Coating (both versions)
Meguiar's M27
Meguiar's Ultimate Wax
Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Liquid Wax

Hello. I have been having issues with Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant staining black trim. Is anyone else in the same boat there?

It's a great sealant wax that lasts a long time and I really like how easy it is to apply...but I am sure it's the culprit behind the stains on the plastic trim around my windows. Is there anything as good or better that doesn't stain rubber and plastic? Being good for making glass shed water is an added bonus.

Switch to Wolfgang SIO2 sealant.....same ease of use, same slickness, same durability....never had an issue with plastics getting stained

Most any SIO2 product will work great, they can be applied on rubber/plastic/glass..with no issues

Yeah I was going to say, what products are staining black trim? I never had that happen. As I said in another post, Can Coat works awesome on trim IMO. GG 3 in 1 was good too.

Waxes and compounds/polishes are the only things I know that leave behind "White" residue...if it gets on certain rubbers/plastics

perhaps "Polymer" sealants do as well....

Yup, it’s waxes and “lotion” poly sealants that stain….Rejex was the worst I used….Ever since I moved to the liquid clear sealants/ceramics like Cancoat I have no problem at all, in fact I use it on the trim in addition to paint, really worked well on my motorcycle black plastic trim
