Ok so I am still pretty new to detailing and I was wondering after I use my PC (which I am still getting use to of). I have always gone straight to waxing it from there. Now my question is should I add a sealant? I do not really know exactly what it does. Then if I add a sealant do I put wax on after or can I just stick with a sealant?

Thank You

Sealent is like a wax, but its synthetic. It usually lasts alot longer then wax, but its purpose is for durability. Good waxes will still give a better shine, but wont last as long as a sealant. Both have their places, and alot of people will layer wax over sealant for added protection + the shine.

It is completely up to you.

You can: 1) use just a sealant 2) use just a carnauba wax 3) use a sealant and put a carnauba wax on top of that.

It all depends on what your goals are.

People who top sealants with a carnauba wax are trying to have the best of both worlds: the durability of a sealant and the look (warm glow) of a carnauba wax, which may also theoretically give a tad more protection than just a sealant by itself.

I don't think you are supposed to cross post here...but as I said in your other identical thread:

In the online detailing world, people generally divide paint protection products into two groups,

  • Car Waxes
  • Paint Sealants

Perception is that a "Car Wax" is some kind of product with a waxy substance like Carnauba in it.

Perception is that a "Paint Sealant" is some kind of product with synthetic polymers in it.

Both type of products are in the category, Paint Protection, that is either of these products can be applied after polishing to seal and protect the paint.

You don't have to use both types, but some people like to for protection and appearance.

Fact is most product are actually hybrids, that is they contain both natural protection ingredients and synthetic protection ingredients.
