Sealants V/S waxes

I'm very confused about sealants and waxes. Is a sealant considered a wax? Can wax over a sealant?

Nope sealants are not the same as waxes

you can use a sealant before putting on a wax but usually its not recommended to use a wax before a sealant

the only exception that i know is using a wax with Opti-seal as Dr G. mentioned that Opti-seal would migrate towards the paint even when applied over a layer of wax

A sealant is basically a synthetic wax. They usually have longer durability and more slickness.

You can wax over a sealant, although how much of the wax actually bonds is a matter of debate. Its probably not a 1+1 = 2 thing.

To answer your question; A sealant is man-made/synthetic. A wax (carnauba) comes from trees. Don't read too much into the labeled name but what the wax actually is. There are some waxes such as Fuzion, but it also uses synthetic, making it a hybrid wax. There are sealants that are labeled polishes. You can use either just a sealant, or two coats of a sealant. You can use a wax by itself. If you want to go the extra step, you can lay down a coat of sealant first, then put a coat of wax on top of it.
