Sealent? Wax?

I recently read an article where mike used 105, then 205! Then a sealent and then a wax! My question is, are both sealents and waxes required??? Whats the benefit of using both? Help please!

105 is a heavy compound so you need 205 to take out the haze induced by the 105.

Sealant is for durable protection but some ppl think the shine is too plastic looking and add a carnauba wax topper. It's another layer of protection and imparts a warmer glow.

Remember, once you wipe them off, you are left with microns of a layer on the paint. That some of these sacrificial layers stay on as long as they do is amazing if you think about it...

both are not required... sealants are snice for their durability....makes the car "glasssy" where as the was gives the car more of a "glow" and wet look, but doesnt last as long as a sealant. so some people layer wax on top of a sealant that way they have best of both worlds 8)... durability and nice warm glow on the paint 8).. hope this helps 8)

if you do the sealant and then do decide to add the wax topper, make sure to give the sealant 12-24 hours to cure prior to putting on the wax. (See app directions and if time allows)

I don't think it's necessary to lay wax on top of sealant. Sealant is meant to give you around a year of protection (so some of them claim). I don't think laying wax on top will do much aside from cosmetic reasons.

Some people just don't care for the solid, glass-like appearance of sealant. Adding the wax will change the appearance.

The main difference between the two is that sealant is completely man made. Wax is a natural product for the most part.

But, do you NEED both? I don't think so.:dblthumb2:

Technically, noone needs anything but a bottle of Collinite 845 but we like to play with our toys and what better way than to clean them and make them really shiny!

both not required. It's what you like and how your car looks and most important, how your paint is prepped for the wax. I use a number of waxes for whatever mood I'm in. I use mostly Meguiar's but have been liking Do Do Juice waxes. I do two thin coats and do a swipe test prior to removing.
