Seat repair?

Just thought that maybe someone here might know about something like this. In my 05 Liberty, the driver's seat has a few small tears in the outer leather...they don't go all the way deep, it looks like there's a backing layer under the leather, just the leather is flaking up/tearing. Is this fixable? I don't expect it to look new at all, just no torn and I don't want it to get worse.

I'm having them fix the wear on the bolster on my BMW.
I've tried to fix it, but I guess I'm too picky for the results I'm getting.

I had similar cracks and tears in a Gray Leather Yukon interior. I used the Permatex leather and vinyl repair kit and it worked reasonably well. The kit has a heating tool and about 6 or 7 colorants that you can mix to match the shade.

It was the first time I used it and although it didn't pass for "as new", it worked as well as I had hoped. It was around $17 and I found it at my local Oreilly's. I also saw a similar 3M kit here on AGO. Perhaps someone will chime in about it
