hello everyone,i have 2000 honda civic hatchback and 04 accord silver .im currently using
1)meguiars show car glaze #7
2)pinnacle souveran wax
3) wolfgang sealant

All these product are being applied by hand. These product have added much shine in my cars but still there is room for improvement , as there are still some swirls and maring in paint left.
i decided to get PC 7427 plus menzerna SIP and PO106FF, i can decide between which kit to go for
1)
menzerna porter cable ceramic 5.5" polishing pad kit OR
Menzerna kit, 5.5 lake country pads, porter cable menzerna kit, ceramic clear polishing kit, Mercedes polishing kit
2)
menzerna ceramic showcar kit -
Menzerna polishes for ceramic clear coat paint, Porter Cable 7424 dual action buffer, Nano polish, super intensive, Lake Country pads, Show car kit

kindly help me decide as i dont want to take any risk,as i belong to PAKISTAN and here we have to pay around 65% tax on importing these products...so cant reorder it again and again.

Get the 5.5" kit, the 6.5" pads will not work well with the pc.

but many people on this forum are saying that honda's have very delicate CC and 5.5 kit can ruin the clear coat?

rsurfer,
can u kindly tell me what are the benefits of backing plate....im a noob..dont know much about these detailing kits..just trying go through this forum and learn things

5.5 pads will not ruin the clearcoat. You will get better correction and the PC will function a little smoother due to the smaller pad. You use the backing plate to fasten the pad onto via the velcro that is on the backing plate and thr pad. Go with the SIP polish deal. Make sure you have some decent microfiber towels and if you don't already have clay, get some. If you do all this you don't need the Meguiars #7 glaze but after claying and polishing, apply the sealant followed by the souveran.

Cartier, alway's start out with the least aggressive pad and polish. Honda does have a soft clear coat so maybe 106 with a white pad is all you need. Do a 2x2 section, wipe down with alcohol and take it in the sun to inspect for any swrils or marring. If you still have swrils you can move up to an orange pad or move up to SIP and a white pad. After the swrils are removed, you might want to burnish or jewell the paint with 85rd and a blue pad. Again, wipe down with alcohol or prep sol before sealing or waxing. You need good washing tecniques to keep swrils from reappearing. Search for "washing" or ONR.

I use 5.5 pads with 106, and have had no problems with Honda's soft clear coat.

I have a question, since ive already done a full correction over my entire car with SIP(orange) Nano(white)............say after i wash i noticed a little big of washing marks from the mitt. Is Nano Ok to use in a one step process???

I second the idea of the 5.5" instead of the 6.5" with the Porter Cable, especially if doing correction work.

Get the 5.5" kit, the 6.5" pads will not work well with the pc.
thanks everyone for your input...but one more thing, can one be able to remove heavy swirls with PC, coz many ppl here say that PC is not good enuf for heavy swirls and if one is looking for a new paint like finish.

If you are dealing with heavy swrils, get the 4" pads. A pc will not correct as fast as a rotary, but it will get the job done.
