I used up my gallon of AW, and figured I would use some of the OCW I had, but not really digging the OCW (been spoiled by AW). I recently read this thread and most were praising CG V7, but before I made the leap I wanted to get opinions of AW vs V7.

I mostly use it after drying (with the leaf blower) to provide some protection and extend the time between full details, where I typically use a sealant either KSG or Duragloss.

Feed back please

I am probably in the minority here, but I am not a big fan of V7. I prefer AW and D156.

So I am a fan of V7, but recently picked up a bottle of sonax brilliant shine detailer and absolutely love it. I think it may replace V7 in my arsenal.

whats AW?
i thought V7 contained alcohol and will shorten the life of the wax underneath. unless you use a sealant first

ah, i know aquawax. just didn't get the abbriviation :D
then I vote aquawax. I don't like V7

I'd have I give the edge to AW. However, both are nice. AW seems to enhance beading, while V7 tends to mute it for me. I tend to use less V7 than AW, so a gallon could last longer.

Sometimes AW looks "too bright" to me right after it's applied. But it goes down in a day or so.

Sonax Brilliant Shine is brilliant. OCW works well for me as a lone LSP, not as a "topper" or "booster".

As a drying aid, two products in the winners circle..Prima Hydro Wax and Lucas Slick Mist.

Never tried V7 but I've heard it has awful durability and I've seen beading pictures and they were not good at all. I don't know why this product gets so much hype.
Aquawax looks great, is super slick, a breeze to apply, and has amazing durability. It's also pretty cheap!

I have V7 and I'm not that impressed. I will have to try the Duragloss Aquawax.

I prefer v07 and D156 over aquawax. In fact I'm trying to use up my AW by adding a few ounces in my rinseless washes. Just IMO.

I ONRWW my car weekly and I top it off with v7 for the final touch. The shine, and slickness lasts about 2 weeks, afterwards it starts to fade away. I never looked up the MSDS for v7, but now someone mentioned it contained alcohol, I might need to strip off my Colli 845 and top it with a sealant first.

Isn't 845 more of a sealant than a wax?

Having used both, I prefer DG AW.

V7 is good and leaves a slick finish, but the "protection" is miniMal at best and is more of a glorified QD IMO.

DG AW works as a post wash drying aid although it is not the main goal of the product. It leaves a nice slick finish as well. But when as a spray wax on dry paint the protection is much better and the beading is nice as well. I liked it enough to buy a gallon.

I disagree with the posters who say V7 offers no protection. I used a bottle of it as a drying aid, and in a rush one time I didnt wipe it all off completely. The next day I noticed some dry high spots which were actually rather difficult to remove. I had to buff with distilled water with about the same force as removing a typical wax or FK1000p. If it offers no protection it would have been a lot easier to remove IMO.

I agree with you, I believe v7 does have some protection. But for me it lasted only days at best not long lasting "weeks" as they claim.

At the end of the day I think DG AW and v7 are obviously similar and comparable. They are both good products and most would be happy with either one if they never tried the other.

One of my deciding factors COST:

DG AW: 22oz @ $9 / 1gal @ $35
CG v7: 16oz @ $19 / 1 gal @ $47
