Or it does not feel like metal. The area btwn front & rear windows, has scratches (see pic), choice o f scratch removal:

M-205 or Menzerna SF4000

or

Meg PlastX

or something different, what do u think I should try

Thanks
Rico

painted, super soft.

agree with sf4000 if those are your options.

THEN COAT OR DO FILM!

it's actually very soft material, and scratches easy.

i'd suggest a finishing polish.

plastic-X works great on those pieces though

I believe on most cars, it's plastic. On my wife's Toyota Highlander, it's flat paint with no clear coat.

Based on the Audi logo avatar on your user ID, I'm assuming this is on an Audi vehicle. If it's anything like the same parts on my VW GTI it's plastic.

I simply hit that area with whatever finishing polish I'm using on the car. It polishes up nicely and usually only takes one quick pass to wipe out all the swirls.

Thanks Guys!

I'll try the SF 4000, with 3" polishing pad.

Leave it to my car to be completely uncooperative when it comes to anything involving paint correction. Lol.

Started off with M205 on speed 4.

That did absolutely nothing. So I went and got M105, speed 5

That left it like this. Still not anywhere near complete.

Finally another application of M105, cranked it up to speed 6 and applied the absolute most pressure I possibly could along w/ very slow passes until the compound almost disappeared.

Finally.

Who said these were gonna be soft? Lol.

That's really strange. I can't make out the type of car, but could that area be painted with the same paint as the rest of the car.

As I mentioned before I've never had to do more than one quick pass with a finishing polish to correct that area on my vehicles (Mazda, Toyota, VW).

I ended up using FG400 on white LC pad to pull the swirls out of the pillar trim plastic on the Touareg & Cayenne.

FG400 all the way. Those plastic pieces are consistent from begining-thickness to end-thickness, so polish all you want.

A lot of pillars have a film over them.

Are you talking about the car in my pictures? It's a 97' Cadillac. Pillars are hard plastic. Doesn't look like normal paint, just looks like shiny plastic. And yea it sure is easy to scratch as I found out while applying sealant on them once I was done.. The foam applicator bunched up as I was going up/down and my fingernail dug into it and made a little scratch.

Wierd how they scratch so easily yet were a PITA to correct.
