I am new to the forums here but a long time lurker and member of many other detailing forums. I am hoping I can get some information from some of you guys here about being a distributor/selling detailing products out of my full service detail shop.
Other than the typical business license and insurance, what do I need to have to start selling detailing products in my shop to the locals and eventually online?
I want to make sure I am doing this thing right and not getting in trouble with local and federal laws (tax laws).
Any information would be GREATLY appreciated!

Why not just go on EBAY, open it up with ask the pro, and move the product out the door.

Forget the local cherry pickers, they would be a real time waster.

Well I'd like to sell to local mobile detail guys mostly. There are no detail supply shops in this part of Charlotte, NC that sell multiple brands of detail supplies like Optimum, Meguiars, SONAX, Chemical Guys, Lake Country, etc. I'd like to also set up an ecommerce site with cart and merchant account for credit card orders, etc.
I want to make sure I am covered legally though as far as any licenses or tax info goes.

We have a place in Indy that does the same thing, and many more on the internet. They also hold a lot of educational shows and have some great dealer appreciation parties.

Bet they have a 15 million dollar credit line with all that inventory, the boys here have their own private Lear jet out at Combs Gate in Indy.

Wow, would be nice to be making that much. I do not look to get rich off of it, just a side income when the detailing service is slow to help along the slow months. As for getting set up with these accounts, I already am set up with the above companies to sell their products as well as a full line of top notch microfiber products. Now it's just getting the legal stuff out of the way and set up with a merchant account and figure out which eCommerce site to go with...

The secret is in the buying, many of these guy may bite the dust if Wall-Mart becomes a big player

Many of the brands just want to get the products out the door, and someone else holding the merchandise before the slow months hit them...

You must plan to succeed failing will come naturally
