Not true with Duragloss and McKees.

They’d still pay a designer for the work, they just have a very “interesting” package design that probably has its roots in packaging from the early days of car care and their brand focus is on the product instead of the image.
However one would like to classify it, both Duragloss and McKee’s have not continued the focus in their marketing and costs via their packaging. Both simple great product brands. And one’s I seem to choose often nowadays.

Being in the Marketing world as a career does sort of taint me to all the “packaging” gimmicks in today’s world. I much prefer quality brand marketing that focuses on the product not the wrapper. A perfect example is the new Mcguire's polishes. Same blah tan bottles and they will sell the crap out of those.

You can take either a superior quality product or a superior value product and wrap them in a dog crap wrapper and still sell the hell out of them. Duragloss’s packiging is “dog crap”in today’s marketing world and I still LOVE to buy and use their products.

But that's the professional line...that and the detailer line have "blah" packaging, because those customers are buying based on other factors. Meg's consumer line that is sold at retail has flashier packaging (not sure I would call it gimmicky).

I have LOTS of questions about 3D's super wheel cleaner, APC, & degreaser but I think i'll save them for another thread. There must be some clever chemistry going on there (hint peek the sds)

btw big respect for companies like Meguiar's & 3D that make sds sheets freely available online :xyxthumbs:

Packaging “gimmicks” are all to do with brand position not brand proposition.

Authentic looking, no-gimmick packaging is still packaging with purpose. You simply prefer a brand which attempts to communicate product quality in a low-key way instead of with design trends. Both can be equally #### products.

Value is where cost and performance cross over, in the case of Ammo products, they may all be brilliant products and all have clean, modern packaging but their value is low compared to a poorboys product because typically you’ll have a higher expectation with the more expensive, sleeker looking product.

This also spills into brand psychology as one could also be psychosomatically affected by the branding and have a heightened sense of ‘value’.

In the end it’s all deliberate design to achieve a market position which suits the brand proposition by aligning value with expectation. This happens at all points across the budget to premium range.

But as someone in marketing you’d know all this.

Edit: Apologies to those here for the original topic.

If that citrus is priced as well as their other products then it could be a right winner.

My tip is that 3D will release a ceramic if and when they decide to fully enter the detailing market. Right now they’re still aimed at auto body so ceramic anything doesn’t fit.

One more that popped up from Sonax

Did you get a price point on the new Scangrip lights? I was in the process of ordering new lighting for the shop until I seen this video.

As a "brand ambassor" I have to chime in here. The compound, polish and finishing polish are new for this year and we're already released before SEMA. I used all 3 of them, in different stages, on my car back in June when prepping my car for paint coating.

The 303 compound is very low dusting, which is somewhat unusual for a compound and took care of the couple spots on my DD that I didn't wanna mess around with. The compound, combined with the blue Cyan LC pad, worked amazingly!

The 303 Polish leveled everything out on my car, brought out ALL the metal flake and eliminated ALL surface imperfections. This product is a dream to work with, used an orange GG pad for this duty, could not be happier!

Finally, to put everything into HD crispness, I finished with the 303 Finishing polish to bring everything together, a black GG finishing pad was used here.

I know there's MANY choices for paint correction and 303 has stepped into the ring with some heavy hitters but given the chance, they WILL NKT disappoint you when bringing your car back up to "like new" levels!

The car wash soap IS new and I have used it already and its everything you want in a soap, whether your car is coated or not but if its coated it's great because it just cleans your paint, period. It suds up great and rinses clean with no residue. I plan on trying it in my IK Foam 9 hand pump sprayer very soon for pre-wash duties but for regular carwashes great!

Finally...the last product in the pic, far right! 303 has stepped into the ring with their take on the virginning spray on, rinse away sealant type product. The difference with THIS one is this, its NOT Sio2-based. I've already tried this out, about 9 monthes ago and was VERY impressed with its ease of use and especially the gloss! As you can see its bigger bottle than its competitors, meaning you don't have to worry about not doing everything, including glass AND rims.

The 303 product line has been becoming a FULL product line, check them out, pick up a couple items and you'll be impressed!

Apparently I misspoke about the Touchless Sealant being non-Sio2, it is but i guess its "different" than the competition. I'm anxiously waiting to get my hands on it
