(Wasn't quite sure what sub-forum was appropriate for this, but here goes)

I personally think it's a little early to start a SEMA thread, and I don't know if Autogeek/SonaxUSA are going to have a booth this year, but over on the Optimum forum they've already "leaked" that this is going to be a big year with a lot of formula updates, line extensions, and new products.

What SEMA gossip have you heard or predictions do you have for SEMA 2024, Nov. 5-8?

Good ol Optimum still plowing away in the saturated hypercompetitive marketplace.

ONR Rev 6?

Griot's hasn't mentioned anything about their new version or replacement for Brilliant Finish Rinseless Wash since it went out of stock. Hopefully that's coming. The rest of the market isn't exactly waiting around.

Oh, I forgot, Mike Phillips posted a week ago that he was polishing something with a Dr. Beasley's NSP "that's not public yet" which made me think that might be coming at SEMA.

Looks like the IK e Foam Pro 2 is starting to show up for preorder with a ship date of early January. So won't be available yet at SEMA.

I would be interested in seeing what new products Optimum will be revealing. I use several of their products and haven't found one I don't like yet. But I guess their product line is getting a little stale.
Whatever their new products are ill give them a while before I try them. See what the publics opinion is of them first.
Everybody knows every company making detailing products has the best products on the planet.
Or wait, maybe that is just Pan and the Detailing Co.

DIY Detail just leaked a video about upcoming cordless polishers. I'm a little intrigued but doubtful they'll enter in at an attractive price point.

Looking forward to hearing about other SEMA leaks in the coming weeks.

Maybe this isn't news, but it looks like Flex is coming out with 24V cordless rotary, forced rotation, and DA polishers (24V versions of the 18V they already have). This is on the heels of the discussion at TRCMA of the 24V batteries being adapted to the the 18V tools (with an adapter). IIRC, they said the 24V batteries use a flat cell technology. I'm presuming these will be officially introduced at SEMA, which starts a week from tomorrow. The tools are shown on the Flex website and say "coming soon".

I'm not sure if Flash was just being sarcastic, but he was referring to Barry Theal, president of SB3 Coatings, who used to go by the screen name "Buffer Barry" on Autopia back when he was just a grunt detailer doing crazy wetsand jobs, as I recall.

EDIT: Here's a surprisingly revealing thread by Barry, at that time he was running "Americana Global"; I'm not sure if that turned into SB3 or not: https://www.autopia.org/threads/the-true-power-of-autopia-my-life-as-i-know-it.165712/

IGL Coatings launched a few items:
Strip - Low VOC surface prep & strip spray
Hydrocoat - Rinse off hydrophobic spray
Arcane - single layer graphene 4-year coating

I got sidetracked with Buffer Barry and forgot to post about this--that's pretty interesting, a "mid-engined" cordless polisher. I can't figure out if that is just a gimmick or a good idea. If I ever get a cordless polisher I doubt it will be that one rather than a Flex or Rupes, and didn't Optimum come out with a line of cordless Zentools (under the Optimum brand) last year, to approximately zero fanfare?

I seen a new cordless polisher on a canadian site a few weeks ago from RBL which is affiliated some way with 3D. $500 canadian but the unit is not that good looking..looks like chinese crap.

I wasn't able to find anything. I only found their corded tools.

And if they want to be truly groundbreaking, let's see DIY create the corded to cordless conversion kit for polishers. Is that too much to ask?! After all, I've seen some of you turn basic IK Sprayers into battery operated masterpieces

Are you talking about Optimum or DIY? The Optimum cordless tools are on this page: https://opticoat.com/collections/tools?page=1
Very similar to the RBL i was talking about.

You can get a shinemate for a about 10% extra which looks way better IMO.
