What is the best and lowest maintenance semi perm wheel coat? What I mean by low maintenance is, which one is easiest to clean that keeps brake dust off the best?

Opti-Coat 2.0 is too easy to install to ignore it in favor of other products. plus it is marketed as permanent vs. semi.

isnt that a permanent coating? i wanted semi permanent

PBL Wheel or CQ UK - I currently have UK on my wheels. Another option is CarPro Hydro2...

+1 for CarPro Hydro2 It is as easy as spray on wet wheel after cleaning, let it sit for a few minutes and spray off with water, instant protection. I use it on my DD and so far its reduced the brake dust significantly compared to no protection on it.

well, what if I dont like the way it looks/works? I would assume thats why manufacturers make semi permanent coatings.

I polished my rims then hit em with a spray wax,I have the Dlux in the garage,I will give it a shot when I do my winter wax this fall

I f I do go the Opti coat route, can you still use wheel cleaners on the wheels? Or will that dis color them?

If you put OC 2.0 on your wheels, use what you were using before the coating. Wheel cleaners should be safe to use. IMO, you really don't even need wheel cleaners, just your regular soap and water is more than enough for a coated wheel. I have it on my Bee and soap and water is sufficient enough to get it clean.

I agree - though I am using PBL Surface Coating not OC...

OC 2.0. I don't see an advantage to semi-permanent over permanent. Either one will need to be removed abrasively if you don't like the looks. I prefer OC 2.0 or CQUK for wheels due to their durability in this nasty environment.

That being said I have Dlux on my SS exhaust tip and it's holding up great to heat, rain and nasty road tar.

Ive narrowed it down to -Gtechniq C5, DLUX wheel coat, and Opti coat 2.0

I like the sound of just soap and water rinse to clean rims

i want to add to this.

you can't use acidic cleaners on wheels coated with 2.0. but...then again, as mentioned, you don't need 'em!!!

i am not sure of the compatibility of acidic cleaners with the other coatings but i'd imagine the story is the same since Opti-Coat on paper is the toughest between those that you listed.

alkaline cleaners (like Power Clean) are fine and make cleaning easier (particularly if you are a power washer user), and those cleaners can help clean the stuff that isn't coated, like lugs and the brake stuff.

The easiest semipermanent coating that I have used is Permanon. You clean the wheel to your satisfaction and then simply spray it on a wet wheel. It makes clean up a soap/water wash. Lasts about 1-2 months but so easy to apply I do it about every 2 weeks.

I don't consider 1-2 months semi-permanent. Something closer to 6+ months would be considered semi-permanent.
