Sequence of pads (newbie)

I have an orange, white, and red lake country set of pads that I am going to use with a rotary buffer. The car is a 2004 ford mustang with some medium scratches and scuff marks from a bike rack. The car is Black. Would someone help me with the following sequence and with the appropiate RPM using a Dewalt Rotary Buffer.

1. Wash and dry the car.
2. Claybar the car.
3 Use the XMT #2 scratch remover with the Orange Pad RPM (?)
4. Use the XMT #1 fine polish with the White Pad RPM (?)
5. wash the car with the XMT precleaner.
6. Hand apply paste wax and buff by hand with micro-fibre towel.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My rule for the rotary is that it generally only comes out to play if my Flex DA can't handle the job I'm working on.
 
I have been warned by an experienced body shop Tech about using a rotary buffer and he is going to help me. I am aware of the risks using a rotary buffer. He does not have much experience with pads or the xmt products which is why I am asking for help. His thoughts are a rotary is the ultimate buffer. Here is his golden rules for a rotary:

1. Be patient
2. keep moving
3. do not use pressure with the dewalt 849
4. do not talk to anyone while the buffer is on
5. stay as flat as possible with the buffing pad.

I have watched as many videos as I could find on this wonderful site and on youtube using a rotary but would still appreciate any advice.
 
Have you even used a DA before? A rotary can mess up your paint REALLY fast if you don't know what you're doing.
 
I have some experience with a dual-action and an orbital. (limited)Please understand that I am not going to do the Mustang. My friend who has alot of experience will do the Mustang. I am going to do a 1992 Buick Century that is ready to head for the salvage yard. It is my winter car. I have a 2006 GTO and a 2004 Mustang GT and I am tired of paying $300.00 for each car to get detailed. I want to learn how to do my own detailing. I just need advice about the pads and using XMT products.
 
The rotary is not as scary to use as a lot of people make it out to be.Just make sure you keep it moving and dont stop on one spot and when you are using it on plastic parts move it a little faster.
 
Well my first time with the dewalt 849 turned out to be fun. My friend was there to teach me the basics and I can say it was acually easier than I thought it would be. Being my first car with a rotary I found out my arms legs, and back was the most diffucult part, becuase when you get tired, it is hard to maintain the surface pressure and angle of the pad. The dewalt is heavy but what a machine! Once you get the feel of the pad it is an unbelievable shine. I will never use a da or anything but my dewalt for two reasons. I can save on my gym bill and pretty much do anything when it comes to the paint alot quicker than with a da. Yes you do have to be more careful but that is what it's all about anyway. Just be patient!
