Just re-reading this entire thread, I realize that a lot has changed in "my little world" of the detailing industry.
Since starting this thread I have read the in depth writings of Kevin Brown (Super nice guy) and have had the pleasure of picking his brains a few times on the phone about my goals in detailing.
Have read and continue to read the in depth and ever so helpful writings and teachings of Mike Phillips.
Have had the pleasure of spending a Saturday (down time) with Barry Theal over at Presidential Details of Lancaster PA, who is a super nice guy. Barry and I talked in depth about "the real world of auto detailing" and he had shed a lot of light on the how to's and techniques of marrying the needs of the average customer to the goals and desires that I posses as a detailer.
Of course I have had ample time to practice transitioning from doing multiple step paint corrections to achieving near the same visual results in one polishing step.
I have found the best way to get the client's car looking stellar for not so much money is to polish with Meguiar's D-300 "or" M-205 then top with Ultima's UPGP. This goes very quick and looks fantastic to the client. They are happy to get a better looking end result than what they had been getting at other shops, and I am making a little money.
I really enjoyed re-reading this thread and would like to thank all of you who have contributed to it.
