Hello all,

I've been using collinite 845 and loving it. The one thing letting the product down is its ability to sheet water. I usually slow trickle the hose over the car to get rid of the water but that only does so much.

Can anyone recommend a product or a way how I can sheet the water off the paint ? would a spray wax help ?

Sonax Polymer netshield
Sonax Brilliant shine detailer

:)

Pro4x nailed what i do with Coll845, a slightly more strenuous flow and guide the water together and out to the edges. That's a different approach than when i do it on Blackfire with less of a flow and slower arm speed with the nozzle.

I agree that 845 leaves more water on the washed paint than a true sealant.

A flood rinse will sheet water off IF a good LSP is present. Which you have. Dont trickle, but flood it with just a opened end hose. If you still have issues look into..

Dodo Juice Time To Dry Drying Detailer,Drying Detailer, dodo juice detailer

Thanks i'll give that a try !
Sadly that Dodo juice product isn't available where I live.

Would love to get some SPN but it isn't sold where I live

Yeah i'm hoping they invent a formula to help it sheet better. I'm wondering if I can use a spray wax or detailer to help sheet better but also act like a sacrificial layer to help 845 last longer, give a deeper gloss and protect the car even more.

I am loving 845 !

Had it on the daily for nearly a year now and the cars paint still has that deep gloss look to it. The water drops have gotten bigger so not sure if thats normal or its wearing out.

Is there something I can combine with 845 to improve water sheeting ?

Collinite 845 is a very hydrophobic product within that first initial 1-2 months. You'll see faster sheeting if you flood the panel within this time period. As time goes on the water behavior will drop off. If it's been a full year since you've reapplied 845 then most likely the coat of wax is completely gone. You want to reapply 845 once every 4-5 months, and if you really want to keep up that aggressive water behavior and super fast sheeting, reapply 845 every 2 months and give it two thin coats. Or maintain it after washing using a spray wax like Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Wax, this will help keep up the water behavior if you don't want to wax with 845 every 2 months.

Maybe i'll try flooding the panels properly this time and see how it goes. I've recently discovered the wonder that is the clay mitt which will cut down my clay bar time by heaps. I always hated claying a vehicle takes too much effort :p

Does it matter if I clean the car and use a spray wax without claying the vehicle ? Also whats a good spray wax for 845 ?
