Shinemate's new cordless 3 inch

I wonder if they'll make a 5.0 ah battery for this unit as well

This was the machine that was being hinted at when I was at Waxit late last year. Sandro couldn't say much, but reading between the lines, I knew it was going to be something like this. It uses the same battery system as the smaller EB210, meaning its ultra compact.

There aren't any videos up about it just yet, but I have heard it running. It's not quite as smooth as the Mirka, but for the price that's understandable. Sandro was using it in his latest video comparing Menzerna HC400 and KCx H902.

This machine is right up my alley. At the moment, I have the ShineMate EB351 3/12 and the Rupes LHR75 pneumatic. The EB351 3/12 is just too bulky for a 3-inch machine, it uses the same footprint as the 5- and 6-inch machines. And although butter smooth, the LHR75 needs you to manage the air line.

On the shortlist were the more compact ShineMate EB350 3/12 and the Rupes HLR-75. After trying the HLR75, I found it rough as guts and didn't like it all. The EB350 is still a little big. The PXE80 and EB210 are too small for a 3-inch, too big for smaller work. The Mirka is without doubt the best on the market, but just too expensive.

So, this new EB212 looks to be the perfect blend.

Originally, ShineMate were just another Chinese copycat. Over the last two or three years though, they seem to be innovating more and getting product to market much quicker than the established brands. I do love my Rupes stuff, but they were way overpriced and from what I was told last year, they are not as reliable in the professional sector as they would have you believe. Which is a shame as you'd expect a premium brand to be on top of reliability and build quality, especially at such a price premium.

Skip to the 2min 30sec point in Sandro's video, one of the images shows a larger footprint 3.0 Ah battery.

Seems like a good machine, however I'm always in favor of a progressive trigger, so you can spread polish around by feathering the trigger, rather than having to change speeds, particularly with what I perceive to be the relative difficulty of changing the speed on a machine like this vs. a speed dial. I don't have any machines with the push button speed adjustment like this one has.

I mean this is definitely a Mirka copy cat. Looks nice. Quiet too. If I didn’t have anHLR75 I mighta considered.

Suprised you had issues with it vibrating. Mines prably the smoothest machine I have.

Yeah, I am too. I was swapping between several machines that day, but that HLR75 stood out for being noisy and grindy.

We are getting spoiled for choice these days, more and more options.

To be honest, I also tried the smaller ShineMate EB210 and I didn't like that either, it felt overpowered for the size of the machine.

I hope the shinemate has 2 batteries in North America.

Sweet looking machine.
