Shipping costs

^ you get what you pay 4.

What are you trying to say? A little while ago I shipped probably 300+ things with USPS. None were lost, none were damaged, and no more than 5 of them took more than 4 days to be delivered. The rest were all 2-3 days.

Most people complain about service. Which is a good argument.

They won't hire. So more of a workload is put on the employees. Which in turn makes people miserable.

Then you have the employee who never had another job in their life so they take things for granted.

The post office has more supervisors per employee than any other company in the world. Things do need to change

You'd be amazed how supervisors treat employees. .

Ups probably wouldn't be in business if it wasn't for the post office. I don't know exactly when but maybe in the 30's 40's the PO gave UPS most of it's parcel business. Wouldn't make much sense for me to give some business to a detailing competitor.

I think you got your story a little mixed up. First of all, the post office doesn't have any airplanes, so "air mail" and it's successor, Express Mail, were always contracted out to airlines for the "air" part. It wouldn't surprise me at all that USPS used UPS for this when UPS developed their own air operations in the late 80's.

However, the current package "partner" of USPS is FedEx, which is why many post offices have FedEx drop boxes. Although that doesn't stop the many load-sharing agreements that shippers use these days, which are combinations of UPS/USPS and FedEx/USPS, and perhaps other carriers.

My reading of the UPS timeline shows UPS as a competitor to USPS in the 30's and 40's, not a partner.

I love USPS. Where else can you send something 13 oz or less from NJ to CA in 2 days for under $4?

Yeah, really. There used to be a small detailing supply place in CA, and also the one in Hawaii, and I'd get packages from both of those to NJ in 2 days, for $5. Well, maybe it was 3 days from Hawaii.

I didn't say they were partners. Usps couldn't be a monopoly so they gave they're parcels to ups.

I said that already that fedex flys usps express mail.

I forgot the last part the other subject you mentioned.. usps delivers fedex and ups and vice versa.. not sure what the point was

I wasn't shipping anything in the 30's and 40's, but I looked at the historical timeline at the UPS website, and they don't say anything about carrying parcels for the post office, only that they were a direct competitor to the Post Office's Parcel Post.

Sorry, I missed wherever you said that FedEx flies Express Mail, you do know that over time USPS has used many carriers and airlines for that. Most large airports have a USPS facility onsite that coordinates this.

The other thing is despite the relationship between USPS and FedEx, they still partner with UPS, for shipments where UPS provides some legs of the trip, then delivers to the PO where USPS does the delivery.

Whatever.

Lol. I'm not sure what your point is with all of that. . I thought most of what I said was what you said. .

This is a good article

As a weekend detailer don't use allot of product and refuse to pay rediculous shipping charges. I guess I'm spoiled as we have a great dedicated detail supply company here in Pittsburgh and if I don't feel like driving to the store they have flat rate $5 shipping.

I on the other hand have had over 10 packages lost in the past 18 months by usps, all had tracking too, they just disappeared, the tracking is in limbo. Says it's at destination post office or out for delivery. The usps in my opinion sucks. And as fars as customer service goes, it's non existent with them.

It sounds like the people at your post office suck if they all get lost while out for delivery.

Dunno about your PO - only can comment on mine. A while ago I had a jar of Glasur coming USPS. For some reason they left the slip that said it had to be signed for - even though it was just shipped regular mail.

So, like a good boy I signed the slip and left it in the mailbox. Next day - no slip / no package. So, I wait several days. No package. Luckily I had the foresight to take a picture of the slip before I left it.

After several days I go to the PO - no slip. Now, no slip - that's a hassle to them. A lot of sighing and eye rolling...After making a big ruckus someone magically gets my package from the back. Why wasn't my package delivered I ask? Was told my post man was on vacation...

What does that have to do with it? The mail came. The "replacement" was too lazy to deliver a tub of wax?

Then, months later - something else was being shipped to me from EU through USPS. Same exact story. Was also told "post man is on vacation"...

So, it seems to me "post man on vacation" is some story they tell because they are too lazy to deliver any package bigger than a matchbook. The person paying the postage is paying for it to be delivered to my house - not for me to have to drive 15 mins to pick it up.

If this was a private business they'd all be fired. I'd complain - but I'm pretty sure nobody cares.

It seems like a local post office issue. I guess mine is just good.

Yeah I have never had good luck with any post office. They are my last choice to ship any package.

I go there too. That store is really nice. The owner is a really nice guy. He seems to carry the most popular products.

Love Eric's store but he needs to keep stuff in stock! He's out of everything right now.

I don't remember the guys name. Are we talking about the store on Babcock blvd

i've talked to T (autoality) a few times and he was very nice to talk to. he knew the products well and offered some good advice too. in so.cal there's a place called detailingdotcom, but it's hit or miss with their service...

Autogeek's shipping charges seem to be very appropriate considering all that you get when it comes to ordering from Autogeek. I don't want rock-bottom prices, way-too-low shipping, etc., because your going to get what you pay for eventually.
Autogeek is a monstrous, well oiled machine with a customer service department that is, hand's down, well above and beyond the competition. I've told AG's customer service before that it was there customer service that makes them exclusive to the other detail sites.
Sure, I can buy some products elsewhere, but I won't because I want and demand, as a consumer, lightning fast customer service that exceeds my need everytime, but I have to be willing to pay for it monetarily, I feel.
To me, the prices are vital to keep Autogeek just as it is, which is what I like.

I get great customer service but I'm just curious what kind of issues you'd have.

We get alot of information on this forum. We get advice on products

Does customer service mean if you don't like something, they'll let you return it for something else. .

I've learned a ton from this forum. After buying a ton of stuff, probably 60% doesn't get used. But that's the learning process. But I don't think I could use something and return it if I didn't like it.. Maybe I could don't know. .

I bought Mike's book when I first started.. its very cool that mike takes the time to talk to people on this forum. again learned a ton from you guys. Even met some people and made some friends. .

What does customer service mean to you

No, I never had an issue with customer service here. I have had needs that were taken care of by AG's customer service that exceeded my expectations. though.
What Customer Service meens to me is lightning fast communication, excellent product (including the brown carboard box it comes in and the way the product is packed and labeled) delivery, excellent order accuracy, and someone who is willing to dedicate themselves enough to my requests, or demands so much so, that the customer service rep would be willing to give part of their lunch hour, or all of it, to do a better job for the customer.
I've given myself like this when I worked at an extremely busy firestone location that once set a national profit record and was in the top 10 everyyear I was there, so I know it can be done.
