I shopping around for good value options for a camcorder. I'm looking for something that's not out of this world(budget) but good enough quality for me to look respectable and taken seriously on YouTube.

Hoping for suggestions... thanks

What are you looking to record? Lots if not most of the new digital still cameras pull down excellent 4k video. I have a Panasonic that does a very respectable job pulling 8mp still images from any frame within the 4k video too. I use it a lot with the kids.

Dedicated video camera wise, I have a 4k Sony that was like $400. Mid level consumer grade but shoots excellent video really. I like it over any of the still camera options as the zoom is fantastic and the stabilization and options for sound and video are extensive. Pairs very nicely with the Sony Vegas Studio HD Pro software that is only like $100.

I don't do a ton of video but I do extensive photography. Video is growing on me though. Just more time consuming due to the added creativity when shooting.

I've been a media producer for 10 years and It really depends on what type of videos you plan to make. A DSLR will make a good image and allow you to change lenses, but most models lack comprehensive audio controls that allow for external microphones. On the other hand an action cam like GoPro is good at "set it and forget it" but the distortion on the lens might not be the right look for promotional videos for a business.

What type of projects will you produce and what's your budget? Also, factor in some money for editing and a reliable storage device to backup your videos.

DSLR is an option, but depending on some models, you may have audio of the lens adjusting, and the video could be fuzy while it tries to focus.

I have a Samsung camcorder and it has been great for videos. I carry both. DSLR for pics, and the small samsung camcorder for videos. I recently discovered the camcorder also has the ability to perform time-lapse filming, so i am planning on doing a couple time-lapse recorded details for marketing purposes..
