Shopping for Next Car - Best Choices, Recommendations & Expereinces???

I've done that many times......the only issue I find is many of the rental companies don't carry the trim levels I'd like to buy.......and, I've found that "fit" between a base rental and up-level leather/bucket equipped car is usually different. Have lucked out on two occasions though....... rented the exact car (even interior and exterior colors) just before I bought the Impala........plus, on the same vacation, ended up with a new SS. Made choosing easy! Hope I'm so lucky again.

Thx.

Before jumping off the deep end pick out between two or three cars and and try a three day weekend rental of your choices. Once thought I wanted a certain model and after a weekend trial was glad I didn't buy it. As I age my taste have changed and for a DD I find myself favoring a few of the new Lincoln and Ford offerings as well as Buick. Ten years ago if it didn't go fast or sit a mile high , I never would have given it a second look. On imports , I think my teamster decal would be out of place. Good luck on your choice.

The Autoshow was rather boring in Miami this year. Alot of space with the loss of several GM lines and many did not bring showcars. Reminded me alot of the old shows where they had alot of food vendors and not alot of money was spent on flashy.

The Corvette C7 Concept used in Transformers II was there. Could sit in V6 Camaro, Buick Lacrosse, CTS Wagon (nice), and CTSV. Toyota had nice giveaway with those "green" bags commonly used in grocery stores. Ferrari had a new California to see. Infiniti had some show truck with initials.

Bummer, doesn't sound that good................I hope ours, typically in Feb./Mar. is better. Last years was pretty nice, except the Lacrosse doors were locked......they didn'twant anybody in the car until it was officially in the market (duh!).

The choices aren't what they used to be..........Chrysler/Doge offerings are no where what the used to be....now GM. Ford ~ the same. Plus imports in total. Was looking at 2010 & pre-owned CTS's last night. New $42 - $52K or so.......one year old, ~$30K. Quite a difference in year one. Depends on what the incentive/financing is when it comes to buy time. I doubt the CTS will have the deals like other GM models (we'll see). On the other hand, a 1 yr. old cream puff might be good......bad news is that a performance model w/3.6L will be hard to locate, I bet, since it's not the mid-line model normally purchased. AND, what BORING color choices! Ugh...........at least the Chevrolet Impala comes in bright red. You're a black car guy..............you know my preferences! :)

Well........the analysis goes on.............I have a little time, but if I see it......I probably want to act!

See ya.

Audi of America > 2010 Audi S4 Sedan

Performance, style, handling, better interior than anything American made. Fun to drive.. and its a four door. Add in Quattro AWD.. hotness.

Hard to beet the S4 for a car you can have serious fun in and pick up your boss in.

What happened to the V8? 333hp for over $50k. I'd rather get the Infiniti M56X coming out with 400hp at that price. Even the Lexus GS 460.

The G's and M's are nice cars..................but, I don't think I'd bite simply because of the exterior colors available. They have white.....silver- to another silver- to a gray like blue- to graphite - to black. Now that's dull. Sedate car colors aren't my thing, I guess........at least Audi has some to choose from. A4 -> S4 - big price jump. Strange that they're is only one engine choice. 2.0L Turbo in the A4. Actually, about the same output #'s as the 3.9L V6 I have now. A little lighter car w/auto. Just have to check the "fit"......the "4"'s aren't that big on the inside. But, I do like the S4....spanked the BMW 335i in the latest C&D comparo. Always thought they were equal, too. Have to check it out................

And, try to keep the price point in the $30k - 40Kish ballpark. That out to put some limits on it.......if I want real go power, I'll just "have to drive the 'vette!" :)

Thx.

you likely pay mid 30's for a 08-09 CTS with DI motor and either performance package or luxury package. Cars listed for 42-45k new. Its a steal once you drive one for any length of time. RWD offers so much more over FWD.

Yea, I mostly agree, accept that I think dedicated snow tires on all four corners (something you FL guys don't know much about until you've had the 18" snowfall that Paul is talking about) are actually more of a factor in winter handling than FWD.

For Cadillac CTS's. especially at this time of year, dealer inventories are 80-90% AWD stock up here, although I think the tires make way more difference.

That being said..........FWD is better than RWD w/o dedicated snows.

After a hundred years of driving in this stuff, I'm not afraid of it in any configuration (as long as I get to pick the winter tires:) )

Of course, that's just my opinion...........I could be wrong. :)

That may be true in southern Florida but OP lives in Rochester NY. Try the rwd vs fwd in 18in of fresh snow. That is why all wheel drive also isn't as popular down south as it is up north.

Genesis looks like a nice car/pretty good reviews & nice size for the 4-door (pretty cavernous......just what I'd like!)..............but, I don't think I'm going to be the first kid on this block to buy a nearly $40K (optioned out V6 or more for the V8) Hyundai. Just a little rich for my blood on an up & coming brand, but not one with a good depreciation record yet.

Re: Sully...........you must be talking about the coupe (turbo only in the coupe w/I4 cyl; or a V6......plus, I didn't understand the rest of the acronyms in your post) . I have a 'vette............no need for a Hyundai toy. I need a sedan as the other car (wonder who actually reads the initial questions, anyway). If I'm investing in another sports car (which I may just have to do) it will be the new Corvette Grand Sport. What a machine for the money!

Thx. for the info.

I dont know specifics, but love the look of the redesigned 2010 LaCrosse. The Taurus SHO also nice and probably a pretty good performance upgrade.
:iagree:I also like the new Cadillac CTS. But they are a little pricey. Since you we are about the same height, you may not be happy with the leg room in the CTS. Oh! The new Regal is bad too!
