Duragloss 501 Short Take.

Duragloss Marine RV Polish #501 cleans, polishes, and shines gelcoat fiberglass boat and RV finishes. Duragloss durable boat and RV polishes.

I was down in Florida visiting family, my father in law let me borrow his 2004 Camry to get from Tampa to Ocala. He is the original owner and last time this car was waxed was in 2007 when I used NXT by hand. This car has not been touched since, and it has been handed down to my wifes brother who has not kept it up and has etched paint down to the metal from bird bombs and baked on bugs…….I had 4 hours to dedicate so I gave it a quick detail. This was a challenge, and since I was doing this to say thanks. First I used Pinnacle Poly Clay to remove all the contamination. Then used DG 501 to clean the paint and remove oxidation, here I was really surprised, how well DG 501 cleaned the paint. I did four passes with the cyan pads, and finished with the tangerine pads with 4 passes also. The LSP on the car was Wolfgang Liquid Seal. I finished the glass with Pinnacle Waterspot remover and and Pinnacle Glass Sealant.

Just look at these pads!!!! This was after washing the car with Megs gold class/dawn, spraying the surface with Megs APC+, and claying!!!

I ran out of 501, so grabbed some DG 105 to finish off the roof of the car. It didnt clean as well, but still did a great job.

It was starting to rain so I had to wrap up quick, This car really needs to be repainted, but for now this will do for them.

Some after’s. Didn’t take many but the turnout was a lot better than I expected with limited supplies and time. The car had no reflection to extremely hazy before.

Overall the DG501 was easy to use, let it haze and remove effortlessly. DG 501 has found a sweet spot in my detailing arsenal and will be ordering more soon.

Dang, turned out better than what I expected! Glad you like it. :)

Whoa that's a huge turnaround. What were their reactions when they saw it?

What speed did you use with 501? And how fast and how much pressure did you use when applying it?

Duragloss is the best and it is greatly priced. It is my favorite sealant. Looks great topped with Collinite.

With the Cyan, speed of six and the weight of the machine, plus/minus couple pounds of pressure from holding it down.

I'm thoroughly impressed with the Duragloss lineup of car care products. I like Duragloss #501 a bit better than their #105 because it's a little more aggressive and can actually remove finish defects. I generally apply a coat of Duragloss #105 or Duragloss #111 as a last step sealant more maximum shine and protection...:props:

I agree Bobby, I did notice that when I finished the roof of the car.

What have you observed the durability to be of 501 alone?

That was a nice way of saying thanks and you put some life back into the old girl. Well done.

i to love dg 501 for vehicles and rvs /boats!!! I use it with a lc m/f pad and that combo produces some amazing turn arounds.
Nice work by the way.

Thanks :xyxthumbs: With the MF pads does it finish down like the HT pads? I would think you would have to do less passes with MF pads.

Was that SS black?? It looks like if it had CC that was beginning to fail. Reason I ask is my dads black excursion has this oxidation on the roof. And thought the clear coat is done. GREAT JOB btw

I'm assuming that has a tinted clearcoat, or a single stage paint?

A bit off topic...501 seems VERY hard to clean out of pads. Any tips?

Many have posted similarities in cleaning pads after using DG 501. I didn't have those issues, but I've only used the 501 once and with a LC green pad.

Many have stated that to clean pads of 501 that a solvent is best.

I used OPC full stength. I sprayed the pad liberally, rubbed the OPC in with my fingers for a couple of minutes, let it dwell, then washed the pads in the washing machine and rinsed twice. However, I cleaned my pad immediately after use.

+1 on cleaning with solvent

To the OP: Great job and yet another wonderful example of the power of 501!
