Hello. I am new to the forum but long time lurker.

this weekend i rashes my mirror against a gray fence reying to avoid people at a car show. I am going to biff it to see how bad it is but was wondering if I should clay the scratch first or is that a bad idea? The gray paint from the fence makes it hard to tell how bad it is so I dont know if its down to priner or just surface. It feels like its just surface.

thanks

After claying. Doubt it will all buff out but will give it a go

Going to be tough polishing right there on that edge... but might be doable. If you can catch your finger nail on any of the scratches I wouldn't try anything more than to reduce the appearance of the damage. If paint correction can't fix it the good news is it probably won't be too expensive to just repaint one mirror.

Looks like it'll disappear with a good medium / heavy polish.

As expected, clay never removes transfer. It should come off with a bit of compound.

I am going to work on it tonight and will post results. I really wish I had one of those small 2" buffers right about now though.

I actually removed paint transfer with claying, a few times. Notjing major but I got a clay bar to remove a bunch of paint transfer on a friends car that was hit in a parking lot. A machine got the rest off.

Well, most of it came out fairly well. Black spot is down to the plastic.
I was so worried about the edge that i didnt notice i messed up the other edge with my 5".

I really need to get a 2" for this type of stuff. But needs painted reguardless but i think i might just get it wrapped

Looks great touch up the black spot with paint and use your car horn next time to move people out of the way, LOL!
